let me put it this way. I am selling my tippy 98c to someone who probably has no idea how well it handles. It is a good marker, someone could maybe use it well, but the money I get is going to pay for my mags. And cocker. And pump.
Rich kids and their money...I want something I can really trust, not something that just looks cool and has tons of upgrades.
Personally, if you wanna compare guns on the basis of upgrades, the Spyder Victor I has got most guns schooled, cuz it needs new everything before anyone would take you seriously...it is about quality not quantity. CCI offers few if any upgrades for their markers, and that is becuase they are simple, rugged and don't really need them.
Just my two cents...If I am wrong in my thinking, please let me know. If you think I am wrong and are too lazy to say why, don't waste anyones time by posting.

Playing, and doing well, with a tippy is one thing, but being good and liking tippys is another.

tippmanns are for beginners because there built like a rock and are easy to work on. when you are get "good" you move into something better, like a mag, something that is faster and easy to upgrade.
this competition really sounds like a good one, wish I could go

I feel this is one of the biggest miscoceptions in paintball now. From a certain point of view during the middle 90's they earned that image because of low prices and older(blowback)technology. For those old enough too remeber Tippmann has been the innovator of paintball from the begining. Smg's were Feared. The 68 special terrorized. Everyone used Tippmann pin valves on their CA tanks. Recently the 98's and reactive triggers increased the power. Now the A5 with reactive trigger or e-grip will shoot 16 balls per second without batteries to feed the paint. There are now some guns that will shoot a little more rapid but if 16 is not good enough for someone I would have to question them.Originally posted by evolutiontippmanns are for beginners because there built like a rock and are easy to work on. when you are get "good" you move into something better, like a mag, something that is faster and easy to upgrade.

It's perception. Although they are factiors, what makes a better gun isn't how much you spend on it or how many balls a second it will shoot.Comment

I can understand that. Which is why I have been looking into some new markers. I will have a classic automag with rental valve (I think), CCI Phantom & 4oz Co2 (when I wanna save money on pballs), and a micromag (when I wanna feel special).
I had been looking at yet another, but am gonna make sure my new equip is exactly where I want it first.
Tippmann is a good quality product. I think that personally someone might not like it because it has not really hit it as big in speedball as other markers. Still, the markers have some design holdovers from the woodsball/scenario. Till the A5, which is kinda like Tippy's jack of all trades.
Everybody probably has fantasized about slinging a lot of paint and being famous with a hugely expensive marker. Tippmann offers a well built marker. Are there better markers? Depends on what you are doing. Talk does little, so I think the rest should be left to what happens on the field.
Darn, that's another two cents. A whole four cents...Last edited by wolfwood_is_here; 09-17-2004, 03:54 PM.If I am wrong in my thinking, please let me know. If you think I am wrong and are too lazy to say why, don't waste anyones time by posting.
