Chronicles of Riddick Feb 19th and 20th

Hey guys there is a scenario called chronicles of riddick being put on in Oroville California. It is being put on at Surplus Citys Combat Zone. I am going to be going and am hopeing that I can get an AO team put together to take. So if you are interested and think you could make those dates please post up here. They haven't set the price or deadline to pay yet but should be soon. Here is their poster:

So far I know of the following hopeing that maybe Boski and some of the sac old boys can come out too.

    Smokeysworld
    JackBauer
    MadMedic
    Bucky

    So lets represent AO style.

Nothing against this game, but that promotor is just begging to get his arse sued. Ok, every producer 'borrows' from mass media to some extent. But just rearranging the name of a major picture and then photo-chopping the poster? You gotta at least make some effort to avoid copywright infringement.

As a scenario player, I can't help but worry about how hard the Hollywood lawyers are going to come down when they catch on to the liberties some fields and promotors take.

Of course, if they've obtained liscense from the film company, ignore the above. But the only game I've ever heard of to do that was Shat 1.

    Muahahaha

      Smoke;

Hey I just saw this post. That looks like a blast! Let's talk on the 8th and see if we can get some folks together. I have never played that kind of paintball, but that could be good times.

I think Soul Assassin's are going to be there as well. I understand that they are a good team for that kind of ball.

Yeah the guy I mentioned above, bucky, is on their team but might be leaving to start a new team with few other aoers. I played with those guys every other week at the quarry here in Rocklin until Lances uncle had to sell the property. I just played with two of them at the toys for tots at nfinate it was just like old times. They are good and are looking to roll this event hard that is why I want some backup. lol I haven't done a scenario yet myself but think it would be a lot of fun. But we will definately talk on the 8th.

LOL.....you think? The simple fact is all the scenario promoters do this. I've heard of others having a artist give his rendition of the scene or whatever. This is the heart of scenario paintball, and that includes those cool props from the movies. You know those are copyrighted as well. I mean they are all owned by the creators or the production studio.

Sure there isn't a more personal motive here?

Custom written orginal scenarios went out several years ago...too much work according to the promoters or not exciting enough. Seems every body wants to be Van Helsing or Riddick.
Thunderstruck, you heard it right the first time.

Doesnt surpise me much. From what I have heard about this producer he copies everything he can to make a buck.

I wonder what the film studio that did the movie would think of all their hard work being copied for a buck they aren't going to get a cent out of.
Try as I might, I can't understand why people keep going out of their way to walk into a paintball that I have just shot into the air.

Who cares about whether or not they get sued or not. I just want to see if any fellow aoers want to go. So if you want to go let me know if not then don't post.

Obviously this guy has some copyright infringements but doesn't affect us. So lets just go and have a good time instead of talking about if he is going to get sued or not.

nobody cares weather or not the promoter gets sued. as long as the game happens, i will be happy. that is the promoters risk, not the players. hope to see a ton of Nor-Cal AO'ers there!!

I believe a guy from the soul assassins will be playing riddick. Also they are allowing the paintball tanks in this scenario too. And from what I understand surplus city has donated one to tawpaintball and another guy was talking about bringing one as well. So if you are planning on going make sure to bring your rocket launchers.
