    Waterproofing your gear?

Hey, it looks like the next game I'm going to, "Coffee Wars" at Outdoor Adventures in Bowie, MD, is expecting some wet weather.

I have weatherproofed most of my gear with some success (and failure) in the past, but I have never had to weatherproof my Mag. Its design seems to take care of it for you. Just oul it up really well, and you can play all day in a downpour.

One more reason that Mags rule.

I worry about my paint, though, and my pods and hopper getting water inside. Any ideas as to how I might better protect my paint on a wet scenario field?

    Thanks,

    -A

    Few tips:

Paint bag over your hopper. All of the electronic hoppers have cracks in them that can let water in in a downpour, assuming the electronics don't short. A loose paintbag over the hopper is easy enough to remove for a reload and will keep your paint and electronics dry. Yeah, it looks kinda dumb, but it works.

Tape over your porting. Water inside your barrel is as bad as a break. You'll have a serious accuracy edge over anyone who doesn't do it. Try to keep the barrel tilted down when not shooting to keep rain out.

Most pods are *pretty* watertight. If you want a little extra, you can use the collarless pods or use some teflon tape inside the collar to help seal it.

As for yourself, my favorite way of dealing with rain is to use two jersies with a trashbag vest in between. Jersies are still fairly light when wet, and the inside one will help deal with the humidity. If you don't have waterproof boots, do a bag outside your socks and change the socks every few hours. Wet feet for any length of time is *very* bad. Also don't forget to stay hydrated. With all the water around you, it can be suprisingly easy to forget to drink some.

    Muahahaha

try some duct tape or electrical tape on the seams and holes for the screws on your hopper.
assuming you have a revvy, try putting it over the front of the hopper, and use a squirt bottle to squirt water at it to test it, before you have to rely on it.

assuming you have powerfeed, try tapeing a piece of cardboard over the slot in the powerfeed, and thouroughly putting tape over it to keep water out.

maybe put a visor on your mask if it doesn't have one?

thats all i can think of right now.

        Thanks

Thanks for the great ideas. I can always count on my fellow AO-ers to have my back.

Looks like the forecast for the game this weekend has turned to a prediction of cold and sunny. I'll hang on to these suggestions for the summer, though, when it's more likely to rain.

Keep the ideas coming. We can all benefit from such wisdom.
