Just a general question... How will play go on in the dark? Granted some crazys will have night vision... but the average player does not, most likely less than 5-10% of the players.

I was at Skirmish D-Day 05 and Saturday play was SUPPOSED/RUMORED to go till 1am+ (sunday morning). However since it was DARK and humid as heck... play pretty much ended at 10-11pm. Nobody could see anything, and the refs with flashlights was kinda lame.

Can you possibly be more realistic with how long play will last on Saturday?

I still say someone should look into (though more expensive), glow in the dark paint. But night play in general = safety out the window

Knight Stalkers/OPFOR will have a large contingent for this one - really looking forward to this kind of classy event so close to home. As far as the night play goes, yes, there will be nightvision on both sides & I usually recommend trying to team up in small fire teams, built around one or two night vision wearers (they can see & direct the rest of the group).

FPS is always turned waaaay down at night (250 or lower) - and it still pays to be very careful. Final time on the field will depend a lot on the weather, the players, and misc other factors. I, for one, enjoy night play - it adds a whole other level.

Looking forward to seeing more Mags there too - my Tac has been a godsend this season.

            Hard to say

If everything falls into place there will be 2 lit fields & the rest dark... play usually goes until the sides agree to call it. Weather & moonlight have a lot to do with it...

I would be a liar if I gave you a more definate answer...

From the Russian General to the Dead Ringers...

I'd like to thank everyone who came out to play for the Russian side. I could not have done it withouot the discipline and enthusiasm of the great individuals and teams who played for the Russian side at USANA last weekend. I have tried my best to ensure that every team who played for us got a personal "thank you," although they deserve much more.

However, in my remarks on stage after winning that coveted "Victorious Commander" penant after the game, it occurs to me that I forgot to publicly thank my fellow Dead Ringers for all of the hard work, planning and off-duty preparation that they did before anyone even stepped foot on the field. Without them, especially, I might have had a totally different experience altogether, and a different outlook on generaling a big game.

First and foremost, I thank my XO, Shanghai, for the single-mindedness with which he prepared for this game months in advance. If any of you saw the truly kick-*** maps that we were fortunate enough to have for this game, you know a lot of work went into them, and Shanghai deserves the majority of the credit for painstakingly re-creating most every square foot of trail, objective and woodland on that field.

But that's not all. Shanghai also served as tactical commander on the ground, taking care of the things that I couldn't and getting them done without my having to ask. In any book, that quality equals victory. If I needed some out-of-the-way objective checked for a flag, he was halfway there by the time I asked him to get there. He was irreplaceable from game on to game over, and I thank him as a commander and a friend for that.

The rest of the Dead Ringers also had key roles (literally) in this game. Homer, whom I have known for longer than I have been playing the game, was my first engineer, and got quite a workout sprinting from flag station to flag station, knocking the enemy's flags out and helping us gain points all the more rapidly.

Steeler, as always, was a born warrior out there, taking it to the masses of enemies with his usual vigor and fearlessness.

Joe and Fred proved once again to be double trouble, picking off player after player with their flatlines, and denying the opposition any more ground than they deserved.

Krink, one of our newest members, was again master of the flanking maneuver and an invaluable second engineer, making it a little easier on Homer later in the game.

Mad Mike and Kaiser, who we had the honor of inducting into the Dead Ringers this weekend, proved that they are, indeed, more than worthy of being part of our sacred brotherhood.

All in all, I count myself lucky to be a part of such a great organization. Any of you who enjoyed taking it to the blue team have nothing to thank me for. If you must toss praise about, be sure to toss most of it to my brothers...

                            The Dead Ringers.
