I'm proud to say that Pickle and his guys will be playing in the 82nd Airborne. Oklahoma D-day is an event that has to be experienced. This will our 5th year. It's played on a field that's over 700 acres and this year will have over 4000 players. And this is the 01th anniversary of the game and I know the promoter has some cool stuff planned. The players are divided into historically correct units. I'm the CO of the 82nd Airborne (and the Chief of Staff for the entire Allied forces). The 82nd alone will have 300+ players, including Pathfinder units and anti-tank units. And we're just one of the US Airborne Divisions. There's also the 101st Airborne and British Airborne units.
We get dropped by military 6x6 truck behind German lines and have to fight our way back to link up with the rest of the Allied forces. If you like being initially outnumbered, surrounded with intense, honorable paintball, this is for you.
They have mini games and events all week. The events include sniper classes, special forces classes and all sorts of vendor activities. We spend an entire week camping out there and have a blast. The game had about 26 tanks in 2006 and will probably top 30-35 in '07. It's features 3 beaches, Omaha, Utah, and Sword (British and Canadian) with landings by actual boats and stationary landing crafts. They have an airfield with a hanger and a few planes as props. There's tough hills, rocks, creeks, fields, towns and villages. There's all sorts of cool stuff going on.
Pickle will be leading a hard charging group of guys within the 82nd. The 325th GIR has an amazing real world history! Get with him, email me, or check out the game site at www.oklahomadday.com The 82nd will be the tip of the spear.
I know June 2007 is 9+ months away but we starting to fill the 300 spots. If you have a team that wants to play together as a unit we can make sure that happens.
And if you have questions about bringing tanks or just general questions please feel free to ask.
FYI - The 2006 game will be featured on the Outdoor Channel later this fall.

My X.O. will be Tariq "T" Chaudry. T is a great individual, good player and all around good guy. He is a team mate of mine on Caltrop Guerrillas and we lent him to Team Gridlock for the SPPL. They won the Oklahoma semi final this June. T has a good mind for tactics and players abilities.
Also in the 325th chain of command is John "Scarecrow" Rigby. John is a native of Great Britain and served 12 years in the British army. Many of them spent in the Queen's Own Highlanders. After the army he immigrated to the states, joined the U.S. army (10 years in the 82nd) and became a U.S. citizen. John will be leading Golf Company of the 325th. Oh yeah, he is also a member of Caltrop Guerrillas.Last edited by Pickle; 08-26-2006, 06:34 PM."Don't hit at all if you can help it; don't hit a man if you can possibly avoid it; but if you do hit him, put him to sleep."

You are also welcome on the German side. The Germans re-tooled for 06 and only implemented a 1/3 of our changes. The remaining changes will be ready for '07.
The concept Pickle lays out was actually put in place by the Germans in '06 under the 6th FJR with 00Buckshot commanding. To keep cohesiveness, Buckshot recruited teams. He still employs this idea today.
To be part of the elite unit that engages both the 82nd and 101st, grab your team or a handful of friends and join the 6th. You will fight along side eachother while engaging some of the most intense paintball battles that you have ever played.

I've been to four of these and aside from visiting with friends it now just doesn't seem worth the money.
The game has been reduced to 8 hours of play on Saturday only. There are other pb related games happening but they contribute no point value to determain a winner, they just give an opportunity for players to shoot paint so more can be sold. Furthermore I don't particularly care for some of the things that have taken place in the last couple years.
1.Two years ago someone decided to use the marketing phrase "D-Day, It's for the kids". When asked repeatedly if that ment that kids would get reduced registration rates there was no reply. The only thing that did happen is that the marketing phrase was never used again and was deleted from where it had been used. As a paintballing parent of two younger ballers I thought the marketing ploy was in very poor taste.
2. Over the past couple years I've learned that several players have been banned from this game. Only a couple were safety related, the others delt with censorship issues. But what really disturbed me was that many of these banned players are (or were at one time) members of our Armed Forces. I thought D-Day was a game that honored our members of the Armed Forces? Banning someone as a form of censorship is hardly honoring them. That also is in very poor taste.
On a totally different front, the rising price of petrol has become something to consider as well. It's quite a haul from the bay area to the far side of oklahoma.
All things considered I'm going to use my D-Day money and attened ShatnerBall here in California. It's the first year it's been out here and it's a pretty big game that draws many celebrities. Besides, I kind of like the idea of keeping my hard earned California dollars here in our state. Regardless of my personal choices and opinions I still wish my California comrades that are making the midwest trek, a safe trip and a safe game.Comment

Kaos - It's obvious that you're Kansas Kaos, one of the banned players from D-day. I was one of many who tried to get you back in the game. I'm sorry your banned but you just keep making it worse for yourself.
By the way, I believe the Shattner Game was cancelled a couple of weeks ago.Comment

Risken, it seems as though you have mistaken me for someone else. Sorry if my choice for a screen name was close to someone elses but it also happens to be the name of our paintball team. As for Shatner Ball IV being canceled I heard the same news awlie ago, checked into it and was told it was still on. Of course things are always subject to change so who knows.
Sorry to cut this short but I'm off to the golf course to try and squeeze 18 in before dark.
Cheers gents, enjoy what's left of the holiday weekend.Comment

I don't know anything about bannage from D-Day and I don't care. I try to stay away from political crap in paintball. It has burnt me too many times. But, I would appreciate it if you would keep this thread on topic. This thread is not about what you've heard or crappy things that have happened to you. It is about getting some quality and honorable players to travel."Don't hit at all if you can help it; don't hit a man if you can possibly avoid it; but if you do hit him, put him to sleep."

I would like to welcome Fridaddy, team captain from Team Lockdown to this endeavor. Fridaddy has agreed to take on the role of Sierra Company Commander. Fridaddy brings a lot of paintball and real world experience to the 325th. During the course of Firdaddy's career he has had the privelege of receiving lots of training. From high risk entry to SWAT medic and rangemaster. Not only does Fridaddy bring a lot of organization and motivation to the 325th but he also brings a lot of dedicated and motivated players with his team, Team Lockdown. Welcome aboard."Don't hit at all if you can help it; don't hit a man if you can possibly avoid it; but if you do hit him, put him to sleep."
