    2007 Oklahoma D-day - Allied recruiting

Oklahoma D-day is an event that has to be experienced. It's played on a field that's over 750 acres and this year will have over 4000 players. And this is the 10th anniversary of the game The players are divided into historically correct units.

They have mini-scenario (300-500 players) games and events all week. The events include sniper classes, special forces classes, small unit leadership training and all sorts of vendor activities. We spend an entire week camping out there and have a blast. The game had about 26 tanks in 2006 and will probably top 35-40 in '07.

It's features 3 beaches, Omaha, Utah, and Sword (British and Canadian) with landings by actual boats and stationary landing crafts. They have an airfield with a hanger and a few planes as props. There's tough hills, rocks, creeks, fields, towns and villages. There's all sorts of cool stuff going on.

We're looking for players and teams to fill the Allied units. These are the units that fought in the actual battle in June 1944 - the 82nd Airborne, 101st Airborne, Ranger Battalions, Pathfinders, British Airborne, French Resistence, 4th ID, 1st ID, etc.

The event is a blast. Contact me at srisken623@aol for more information.
    Thanks

    Allied Efforts

I just wanted to second what Steve already told you about
this event. 2007 will mark my third trip out to Oklahoma and
with any luck we'll see the allies once again the winners, but
even if that shouldn't happen, it'll still be a very memorable
    week.

Among some of the details Steve forgot to mention was
the fact that they're planning on setting up a new covered
vendor area, plus they've also got plans to add lots more
    urban sprawl.

I hear you, you're saying, hey sounds like fun but I'm getting
a bit old for all that trudging around, rest easy, cause there's
any number of other supporting roles you can also play. However,
due to OPSEC I'm not at liberty to discuss just what's we've got
planned. If you're interested in learning more drop either
Steve or myself a note and we'll start the vetting process.

    Sincerely,

The 82nd Airborne Division is looking specifically for good, honorable scenario players and teams to fill out some of the last spots withing the division.

Our division will take the field first and be the last to leave. It's very intense paintball thru some tough terrain. We'll be dropped by 6x6 trucks behind German lines and have to fight our way back to link up with the rest of our Allied forces. The Germans will try and stop us with their 3 of their best divisions. If you like the idea of being surrounded, possibly outnumbered and playing tough, aggressive, honorable paintball this might be the unit for you.

      Let me know. [email protected]

joepain of 702 RECON and Sandman of Streight 5150 are our team Commanders when we roll out of town, so feel free to contact them. I'm the Commander in Las Vegas.

The Big Red One sees a heck of a lot of intense action. They land at Omaha Beach. It's well lead. You'll like it.

I am also thinking of signing up for the Big Red One. Is there any qualifications that I need to have?

The 1st ID, known as the The Big Red One, is a great unit. They land at Omaha Beach and see the most intnese paintball you can imagine. Teh have to fight their way up a steep, rocky hill against entrenched and well bunkered in Germans. There is no obstacle course requirement. Just be there by Friday to go thru orientation. Unit will start taking the field on Saturday around 7 AM. But always keep in mind that there are smaller scenario games all week. These "smaller" games will have 300-500 people! And they'e a blast. There's also other events all week. Airball, sniper courses, Airborne courses and leadership courses, and about 30+ vendors. But all that together with 10,000 people and you have quite an event.

Our group will probably sign up with the 4th ID, Utah looks like fun.
                        Back at this...

I had some questions requesting more information so I thought I repost this here. It has a bunch of links to othewr information. You have to see the shots from the helicopter - great video.

At this point, Oklahoma D-day is less than 5 months months away - June 4-10. But the 82nd Airborne is hard at work organizing and looking for talented scenario teams and players that want to play in the world's largest event, with one of the best units on the field (and one based on a real world Division with an extraordinary and honored history).

The game in Wyandotte, Oklahoma is played on a 750 acre field with over 4000 players, 40 tanks, planes and armored vehicles, mortars, flame throwers, water landings, villages, hills, valleys, airplane props, creeks and ponds. The Allies have American, French, British and Canadian units.

The web site for the game is www.oklahomadday.com There is a very active forum there as well.

The 82nd will be well organized and prepared. It will consist of 5 regiments which actually participated in the actual invasion on June 6, 1994. The unit is limited in size and it's "first come first served" as far as registration and picking your unit. The 82nd always has a lot of former and current military, LEO's, and top scenario players. This year is no different.

At D-day our Division will consist of about 250 people broken down into 5 historically accurate Regiments.

                          505th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR)
                          507th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR)
                          508th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR)
                          325th Glider Infantry Regiment (GIR)
                          504th Pathfinders

The Pathfinders, PIR's and GIR's will have roles based on their history and means of insertion.

We're still looking for teams and players who have what it takes. That means being dropped behind German lines, surrounded, possibly outnumbered, and having to fight our way to link up with the rest of our Corp. The terrain is the toughest at D-day and the Germans will put their best units against us. If this sounds like your type of unit, then come join us as part of the "Tip of the Spear"

This link is to a short clip of last year's action. Much of this was filmed early in the week during the mini scenario games (300-500 people). There are great aerial shots taken from a remote helicopter. It shows a few area of the field; Utah Beach, the Airfield, and Colleville / St. Laurent

And I know the Allies are always looking for more tanks and armor for the American 3rd Armor Division and their British and Canadian counterparts.

This is a link to the 82nd's song from WW2. It's an interesting little piece of history.

It's part of a site giving tribute to a member of the 504th PIR KIA in Operation Market Garden in Holland. The 504th didn't participate as a whole regiment in the Normandy, landing after seeing action in Italy, but portions of the regiment were used as the Pathfinders element.

I live in Georgia and I've driven there each of the past 4 years. The game is a blast. If you have questions I'd be happy to answer your questions here or you can email me at [email protected]

This a link to our Allied information site. http://www.alliedcommand.org/ALLIED_ARMY.html.

The 82nd has a unique opportunity. While we're getting close to filling up, we still have some spots open. And we have one Regiment led by Hoot of the Muddy Water Boys who is trying to fill a key slot with a scenario team. It's an amazing opportunity for the right team or group. The MWB were a top 10 finalist in last year's SPPL. I think they came in 6th in the national. Here's what Hoot wrote and the link.

All right here's the deal, I'm looking for a hardcore small group of guys (who love to have fun), to be the anchor unit of Charlie Company in the 507th. Currently Charlie is empty. So I'm looking for a team I can build off of that love to sling some paint and get muddy. Charlie and Dog companies will be working together very closely within the 507th, and Dog is already looking to be rolling on all cylinders once again. Time to start working on the other half and find a group of guys who can meet that high standard of Dog.

He's looking for the core team or group that would untimately comprise 25-35 people. Contact either of us if this sounds like the spot for you or your group.

Risken is absolutely right about this being a great opportunity! I'm the commanding officer of the above-mentioned Charlie Company, and we're still looking to fill our ranks with dedicated, aggressive players. We wear the badge of the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne. We drop into battle with Dog Company, one of THE most respected and feared fighting units on the field, and we are going to write our names into D-Day history! Charlie Company is about aggressiveness. Charlie Company is about making the big plays. Charlie Company is about winning! Remember that there is no substitute for victory. You can contact me HERE for more info.
