Recruiting for 1058th for OK D-Day

Alright, several German units have filled up, but some still need help. The 1058th needs troops and leaders. Teams are welcome and will be kept together. Individuals are needed, also. Join now and get in on the ground floor.

Now, here's the kicker. Open registration ends 1 April 2007 but may be extended for a short period. Jump over to the D-Day forum and register now before it's too late.

Oklahoma D-Day is still the largest I believe. They've capped participation this year at 4000 people (I know, so few!). There are still some spots open and encourage everyone who has the ability to come down to Oklahoma for some unforgettable action. Not to mention the awesome deals you can get from vendors ( 68ci 3000 tank for $55) etc... makes it just one amazing experience.

Skirmish D-Day claims over 4,000 played in their game at one time or another, but I cannot verify that either way. However, OK D-Day is easily the largest paintball event. This year's registration will be capped at 4,000 to make sure the field is not overloaded and to make the numbers manageable (like 4,000 PB'ers is manageable). However, last year there were a reported 15,000 attendees, counting family members who came but didn't play, vendors, etc. OK D-Day is the largest paintball event in the world because:

          1. It is well organized and well run.
          2. The field is very good for the scenario played, and the owner has made numerous improvements for this year.
          3. The players are really fine people and good players. I had a lot of fun in camp just hanging with my unit, and I stayed in contact with most of them throughout this past year even though some are 1,000 or more miles away.
          4. There are units for every play and experience level, from first time players to the most experienced.
          5. There are units for every level of fitness and level of dedication. For German units, the beach units tend to be more static and require less running. The Allied units that assault the beaches aren't exactly easy, but they don't require the same level of fitness as the Airborne Pathfinders or the Brandenburg Kommandos or the Geisterjagers. Therefore, there is a physical challenge available for every person.
          6. Gunny hit a good point about the vendors.
          7. How can you beat a game where at least some of the Commonwealth troops are actually from . . . well, the real Commonwealth, and some German troops are from Germany. Heck, my unit has about 8 Canadians.
          8. Most players take this game seriously. My unit plans for the big game 363.5 days per year. Not everyone does, of course, but having that kind of dedication makes the final experience that much more enjoyable.

I could go on with more, but this gives you an idea. LMK if you have any questions.

I've been spotting the OK D-day game, I like the open terrain! Too many parks refuse to decimate brush and bushes.

I hope OK has a fun safe game.

Thanks Custard for the points you brought up. Any complaints about SKIRMISH PA? I still think CPX IL. was one of the best parks I played at. I would really like to get around to CA.

So if your going to OK that means I wont get to see you around PA this year?

There are areas of open terrain such as the beaches and the central areas around the airfield and Colleville, but there are still some areas of fairly thick brush in the new area called "the 210" (210 new acres of playing field). I like the deep brush, but that's just me.

I have no complaints about Skirmish since I haven't been there. I would like to one day, but not until my sons are out of college. I need one of those "My money and my son go to __________" bumper stickers.

I still need one of those "sons." Until then I don't mind splurging on myself.

OK I like the woods, bunkers, tree trunks to hide under. What I hate is when a kid uses a thorn bush as an impenetrable fortress! Like cut down the bushes and leave the trees and wood. I dont like how unmaintained the hedges get. Then again its like 750 acres so Ill let it slide at Skirmish.
