    Retro valve questions/care...

hey guys, just recently got a retro valve (thanks farnja!) with a level 10 on it.

not so sure where to lube and stuff. is just lubing into the ASA and airing the valve up good enough, or are there other places? what about the level 10? where do i lube and stuff for that?

how do i NOT let the retro valve engraving fade? does it usually fade away from rubbing and touching it too much? just seen many valves with the engraving nearly gone, so i want to avoid that.

sorry for the noobie questions, thanks.

Take the barrel off, put some oil in the ASA, and fire it a bit. Every once in a while, take your valve apart, clean it, and check O-rings to see if they need to be replaced.

so just lube the ASA, and thats it? it will take care of the level 10 stuff and the valve itself?

That will lube the lvl 10, but it won't "take care of it". Do you mean tune it? I don't know much about lvl 10 tuning, but I think you just have to try all the different shims and springs. There is probably some stickied lvl 10 info.

no, not talking about tuning. just basically talking about lubing and caring for the valve + level 10 bolt setup. i hear lube before playing, and lube after cleaning, but if i dont go to play for awhile, wouldnt the lube get nasty? that is why i usually wipe all the lube off after i play, but just want to hear others opinion on whats best for my valve and such.

A drop or two of oil every month or so should do ya. No need to give it a bath in the stuff. Good luck and nice mag.
