I'm Thinking about installing a X-Valve + RT + Level 10 bolt on my old school Minimag and was wondering if there is a big improvement in performance by doing this. Will the X-Valve improve range, accuracy, or Rate of Fire? Thanks

What do you mean by the 'RT' ? The xvalve comes with an RT style on/off (and a lvl10 bolt), if that is what you mean.
You won't notice much difference between your old valve with an RT on/off and an xvalve, unless you have a high flowing 850 psi tank or an adjustable tank that you can set around 900 or more. That's when you really get the Reactive Trigger effect out of the xvalve. With an adjustable reg you can control the rof fairly well. The higher the pressure, the faster it will go and it gets harder to get just one shot out of it (which will draw a referee's attention). Assuming that the places you play allow such things.
I shoot both in different configurations; however, I have not really compared walking a double trigger on an old valve with an RT on/off and a double trigger on an xvalve with the same air source. I expect that the velocity is more consistent on the old valve, but the trigger pull will be cleaner on the xvalve. -
Short answers are no, no, yes.Originally posted by Macross125I'm Thinking about installing a X-Valve + RT + Level 10 bolt on my old school Minimag and was wondering if there is a big improvement in performance by doing this. Will the X-Valve improve range, accuracy, or Rate of Fire?
The Level 10 bolt will pinch paint instead of chopping it. The X-Valve will not only be lighter weight but will allow you to shoot more bps without shootdown (still limited by how fast you can pull, obviously). Various on/off assemblies will give you more trigger reactivity or a lighter trigger pull. The X-Valve cannot improve your range - any sphere fired at 300fps goes just as far as any other sphere fired at 300fps (except for those affected by spin imparted by a Flatline or Apex barrel, for example).
Accuracy (more properly, consistency) is a whole different story. The X-Valve will actually be less consistent in single shot to single shot comparisons, but will be more consistent in rapid-fire strings of shots. Also note that the X-Valve will only run on HPA, not CO2.Last edited by ThePixelGuru; 07-26-2007, 02:10 PM.Comment

on/off assemblies
What are the on/ Off assmblies that you mentioned? Where on the gun can they be found? I have an original 1993 minimag and am not sure that I have seen any on/off assemblies.Comment

It is the little "can" shaped metal piece that comes out of the bottom of the air chamber/powertube piece. It has a little brass "hat" and a number of different o-rings in/on it.
It also has a small shaft that pokes through the center, and I believe that is the part that actually touches the sear and controls air flow.Comment
