got a bit of a problem

im new to this forum and also too mags so humor me pleaze. i picked up an old rental mag for 15 bucks from a kid who thought it was a brass eagle (his loss) with the side marked clearly "field rental". from what i understand these are capped at 280 fps because of a taper inside the valve that can be drilled out. thats all well and good but i cant get the marker to shoot faster then 220-230 without alot of air leaking through the velocity adjuster. this might seem like a stupid question but i dont kno much about the inner working of a mag yet so please humer me. any advice/help would be great. thanx

    $15?!?!?! I HATE YOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!

I don't know much about field rental valves. If I knew which part was different than a normal classic valve, I might be able to help. Anyway, since you're new to mags, you should check this out:

Well, is it obvious what part is modified? My best guess is the piston has that screw screwed in more than usual, but I've heard instead of adjusting it you should just buy a new piston.

Your spring pack sounds worn. A complete rebuild may also be a good idea...

The spring pack is the regulator "spring". I don't think that's the problem, though. I'm pretty sure it's the piston.

Try using a lighter bolt spring.

Well, idk, AGD says not to mess with it at all. You're supposed to just buy a whole new piston assy. But if you're going to buy a new one, you might as well mess this one up. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Found this on PB nation while searching for ULT stuff.

You could try changing the oring on the regulator piston and that might stop the leak but I doubt it more than likely your going to have to change the regulator piston http://store.airgun.com/index.cfm?fu...&categoryID=18 its not an expensive part and only takes a few mins to change

Awesome! Is 270 as high as it can go before it starts venting out the back?
