    MiniMag coming out of storage

    Hello everyone,

I have a Mini Mag that has not been used in sometime like 6 years or more. I am going to playing again soon and would like some tips on what I should do to make sure that it works correctly. Maintenance of the mini mag and such.

What I should look for to see if any parts are damaged?

Should I replace parts with out looking at them just because of the age of in use?

    Any help would be great

    Thank you
    Kevin

It'll probably work just fine. Take it apart, clean it, oil it up, put it back together, and shoot it! And check everything for obvious damage/debirs/gunk etc when you take it apart and clean it.

Well, what I did to clean my mag was I just took it completely apart, swirled all the metal parts* in hot water with dish soap, and washed all the o-rings with water only since I'm unsure if the dish-soap would damage them. I removed gunk with Q-tips and O-ring picks. But I kind of over-did it, I only did all that because it was the day I got my valve in the mail.

*EXCEPT the regulator, the springpack and regulator nut. You should, I just didn't because I don't have any grease, which you're supposed to put on them. AGD says "automotive grease" or "antiseize compound". I wish I had some, the grease on my springpack is dark grey. . .

I'm not sure what types of oil you're supposed to use or not use, so I just went with oil made for paintball guns.

Mild dish soap won't hurt anything on a 'mag so go ahead and clean it with soapy water. Dry it thoroughly and relube completely. I swear by synthetic lubes because of several events:

          - o-rings in my Blazer's 3-way WORE OUT after several hundred games despite being well lubed
          - I've heard reports of people using synth lube and NEVER having to replace o-rings in over 5 years
          - PPS included a bottle of synthetic lube when they sent the marker back with fresh o-rings (hint hint)

Extreme-Rage brand has a paintball oil they claim is a full synthetic. I wouldn't know how to test it but if you trust the brand, buy some of that. Otherwise, KC-Trouble-Free makes highly respected synthetic oil for paintball markers.

dont worry about the back part so much, i dont think that needs to be taken care of. But the bolt area, just like questionful said, but the bolt and spring is water, and just a towel to clean it down.

Check the on/off assembly (bottom-middle of the valve). get the o-rings out (remember the order, it gets a little confusing) and wipe them down with a towel if they are a little dirty.

so oil it, but a 3-5 drops of oil in the ASA, the little air hole, gas it up, and shoot about 30-40 shots without a barrel to get the lube throughout the valve. I use Goldcup lube, my most favorite and cheap! It is the same as Autolube (official automag lube, i guess). PM me if you need a bottle.

People say to lube the valve before you play and after, but for some reason, i feel lubing it before makes my balls curve, so i do it every month or two. Personal preference i guess.

sorry for the long post, but good luck!

can you use shocktech (gun butta) grease in the reg instead of automotive grease?

Look for dark coloration on your urethane orings (most of them). Instead of translucent cream color, they turn brownish when sitting in petroleum oil and/or (garage or attic) heat. If any have 'set' and become hard and not round anymore, they will probably cause trouble soon. I haven't seen any cut or torn mag orings, but just make sure they are round everywhere.
