You might have some corrosion holding it in. Does it spin the the hole? If not, put some wd40 or similar oil in it and let it set. After you clean it out good and it still won't move, just leave it and run it a while. It will probably loosen up with some use and care. There's nothing under it that really needs cleaning or lube.

D - first, welcome to the automag family.

secondly, perhaps one of the faithful AO members who resides nearby would be glad to spend a few minutes with you, going through the 'mag, showing you the ropes...so to speak...and helping you rebuild the valve with your rebuild/parts kit. Once you've done it, it's really a piece of cake, but i certainly know it can be intimidating to do the first time.

To get that spring out: obviously, degas the gun. Unscrew the front and back sections of the valve. Turn the threaded velocity adjuster in the back of the valve counterclockwise to take it completely out. You should then be able to look inside the back section of the valve body and see the dark colored spring pack. From the other side of the back piece, remove the hard disc seal. Place a small sized allen wrench into the hole and gently apply pressure until that spring pack moves and comes out the back. it's pretty tight, and it won't come shooting out....so no worries. The spring pack is going to fit inside of a brass piston (with an o-ring on outside of the piston). Clean both well, relube as described in previous replies, and re-insert into the valve body. Put it all back together. there you go.

Worst case scenario - you might need to purchase a new spring pack from AGD if that one is too long and the problem persists.

chances are GREAT that a simple rebuild with the parts kit and cleaning is all you need.

      Enjoy.

Thanks for the welcome. Unfortunately there is not much of a mag community around here (granted I haven't checked in the meet and greet), the only mags that I know of are mine and my friends(and he's had his for less time then I've had mine). The immediate problem I'm having (not counting the velocity issues, and the other stuff previously discussed) isn't with getting the spring pack out, it's the spring part of the thing that Tom says in the video looks like a german hand grenade (part number 000368, in the agd store). It doesn't turn in the hole, I've let it sit overnight with wd40 on it and it still won't budge. Incidently, what is the best way to clean out the wd40? Should I just gas up the gun and fire a few shots through it? Thanks

Well if you really want it out there i would suggest ordering a new and then just yanking it with a pick or needle nose pliers . As far as getting the WD 40 out just pour it out of the hole and let it dry out.

          edit for spelling

Yeah a little WD40 won't hurt to blow through. If you ever really want it out, just wash it out with isopropyl alcohol which is a good cleaner for old grease and oil as well.

Make sure you follow Coralis' idea in order - have a new one in hand before yanking the old one out. :)

Unless it's massively corroded, it will probably work for a long time, now that you are taking care of it. Most of us would save that order until we needed an excuse to order something else.

Hehe, yeah, I wasn't planning on going all crazy on it, just figured since it's not supposed to be stuck I should probably try and get it out. But I'm not so fond of the destruction plan, so I'll leave it in there for now .
