Can't Remove Mag Barrel

Hello everyone,

I just received my used Classic Mag today, but I can't seem to remove the Taso barrel for cleaning. The barrel will twist, but it is extremely tight, and there appears to be clear plastic or teflon on the edge of the barrel where it enters the powerfeed left body.

I've never owned a Mag before, and wanted to know if there are any tips to removing the barrel and how tight they usually are.


Any help would be appreciated.

I would remove the trigger frame and back off the twistlock screw and try to remove the barrel again.

Sounds like the barrel is wrapped in tape to make it tight.

It will make a mess, but you could try soaking it in WD40 to dissolve the adhesive and get it moving.

Thanks to all those who replied.

I removed the trigger frame, and the barrel came out with a little persuasion.

It appeared the previous owner wrapped scotch tape under the o-rings on the barrel.

All is well and I can finally start cleaning.

athomas often recommends using a couple of turns of tape on the plastic nubbins to stiffen them up. Was just on the nubbin (ball detent) or on the orings too?
