    6 pak needs servicing

    Hey Guys:

I just found my 6 pak in a box in the attic. I always wondered what happened to it all these years.

Last time I used it was in a Big Game in 1988.

I wondering where can I get the parts for the valve body; o-rings, back check seal.

I'm going to have to send the valve body to whomever can clean it and change the misc. parts.

    Problems:
    - when I removed the back seal nut with an allen key and touched the back check seal with the allen key it retains imprint of the key. Not sure what material it is made of.
    - co2 puncture pin is sticking
    - o-rings need to be changed

Thank you for any help provided.

Hmm.. I don't know of anything.. but I do know someone who'd be willing to rid you of your problem

If you can size the orings and seals, plumbing departments do wonders.

well the orings are easy to change any urethane orings should work well....for the spring inside i dont really know..i would use anything that works

the pin.......i think will be fine after some lube and new orings

these things are like tanks...and really unique in design

just dont break the clip spring.....hard to find.....i broke mine now i need to find another

since the basic design is the same - have you ever considered cannibalizing a bucket/drop out changer for the parts?

Druid: What is that changer you are referring to?

I received e-mail from Airgun Designs. They said the current staff is not familiar with how to service it.

Yeah, I think the grease they originally used on those and micro CAs got real gummy. My micro CA seal was melted, but I think is was a urethane chunk. That's the only seal that you would have trouble replacing. It's not a safety seal, so you could try anything that is close to the size and strength.

Is the plunger (supposed to be) resilient? Seems like that may have been urethane also and it would be the most difficult to replace. I never got my micro CA back together and used it as T-stock for a while. A six-pack is worth it though.

The o-rings are the easy part but the seal is what I really need help in considering it's so soft anything u touch it with leaves an imprint. It's hard to see the thickness or material of construction. I know if I try to pry it out it's just going to crumble.

I remember using a large neoprene washer and punching out a piece to use as the backcheck seal.
The thickness didn't matter as I adjusted the spring tension with the nut

What I meant was that any single-unit 12g changer has the same basic internals...pierce nipple, ORings, etc. Find an older one and cannibalize the parts from it and install into the 6-Pack.
