not able to shoot very deep in my tank...

Ok, I am using preset 850 PSI output tanks, and as soon as I reach 1000PSI in the tank, my Emag decides to start chuffing like no tomorrow. I know that its best to have a higher output tank, but adjustable is kinda expensive for me right now...what could cause my X valve to not be able to fire when the tank gets to 1000PSI (I know that the output is a little lower due to lower overall tank pressure, due to regulator, but its still around 800PSI according to the tank pressure tester I made)?

The same tank I put on my classic, and I still get full velocity down to around 600PSI, what gives?

I have tried a range of springs for my mag, from classic springs to uncut silver level 10's, which all seem to give a similar result. could it be that my X valve is having a problem, or is my level 10 the culprit?

my guess would be the reg on the tank doesnt have a fast enough recharge rate once you get that low. anyone else second this idea?

the guage may just be inaccurate ....

how much are you shooting off before you get to that point?

IIRC, mags like 850 psi and over. To me, that's one of the reasons Mags are considered less than efficient; they just don't shoot as deeply into a tank as most other markers. Have you had other Automags that shot at lower pressures on that same tank?

mine starts to chuff right around 1000psi. x-valve needs more pressure then a classic valve to work. i just make sure i keep my tank at 2k before entering the field.
          mag for now, mag forever

1000 is when I normally consider my tank needs to ge refilled with my emags as well. I have gone down to around 600 by switching to mech and using lower rates of fire. I use a 90 4500 nitro duck though so I have a little more room on the front end.

Once mine hits about 1000 it starts to either lose velocity or chuffs. RT mags are like the Ferrari's of paintball, they're high quality, built to very high standards, are fast and among the best, and a heck of a lot of fun to use, but when it comes to efficiency they're not too great.

Your xvalve with the level 10 probably has a 550 or 600psi chamber pressure so the 800psi tank output is the bare minimum that you can expect to get any performance. Yes, the valve will work lower, but the recharge rate will decrease alot. The older level 7 bolt setups could shoot consitently down to about 600psi in the tank.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

Just like everyone else is saying, I also start losing power somewhere around 1000psi.

This is why most mag users buy a 4500psi tank. I get a little over 800 shots with a full 68/4500 tank (with pneumatics and LX), but if I had a 68/3000, I'd probably only pull almost 500 shots. Since I play lots of woodsball and never have the chance to refill on the field, I need as much air as I can get.

Well i can normally go about 2 games without a refill, i should probably get a 4500, but i'm poor.

I kinda figured so that I just have to deal with it, due to the level 10, I have been looking for a good adjustable tank reg, but have not yet found a good one that I could use on more than one gunoh well I guess, thats the way it goes...my classic gets more shots, but then again, it also has the level 7 bolt, and it dosn't need as much pressure to fire.

and I get around 700 or so good fast shots out of a 68/45, and something like 1000 or so out of my 88/45...I just like to get the most out of my tanks, expecially when I am camping and what not, and I cannot refill them. the gauge on my tanks are a little off, but I test them as soon as they start chuffing on a tank fill station gauge (you know the huge ones)... Thanks for the responses!

You should find a barrel that is more efficient. That will make your tank last for more shots. I used to get ~1100 shots off my 88-3000psi tank on my level 10 emag. I bet I could have gotten 1500 shots off a 88-4500 tank.

I make sure I match my paint to the bore (I have a Hammerhead 5-fin kit, .683,.686,.688,.690,.693) and with the Gold spring (most efficient) I was getting around 1100 shots off a full 68/4500. Right now I get 900-1000 off a full 68/4500 with the silver spring (least efficient, but gentler on paint for winter).

I get to around 800 psi on my tank, but then again, my gun is tuned to shoot with 800 (it's a Crossfire preset).
