    AGD Flatline Questions

Well... I have moar questions for the AGD Flatline because I finally got one. I tried rummaging through the forums to find some basic noob help, but found none, I would really like to have the instruction manual through a pdf. file or something so I can just check back to that instead of asking many, many questions. I'd really prefer that, but until then, the questions...

    1) I was checking WARPIG about it's review on the Flatline and I noticed that the review said you can put elbows and macrolines and such on the Fill Nipple Ports. Is that true?

1a) EDIT: This is an extension of the first question. The Flatline has two Fill Ports, one says HP/Tank and the other says LP/gun. I don't have a clue to what they mean, but my guess is that HP = High Pressure/Tank and LP = Low pressure/gun, but what are their uses?

    2) There is a port next to the burst disc. What is that and what are its uses?

    3) I have not tried it yet, but are there any tips or rules of thumb for using the regulator?

    4) I also looked on the AGD website and saw this Tank Regulator Check Valve what is it and how is it used? In addition to that, does the AGD site sell screws to mount the Flatline to the Automag?

That's all I have in store for now, but once again I would really like to have the manual for the Flatline so I don't have to keep doing this too often.

If this is necessary the tank is a...

I appreciate any help and I would practically praise anyone who would give me a link or a pdf. of the manual for the Flatline.

    Thanks!

Was it this WARPIG tech article?

1a) Yes: HP = High Pressure/Tank and LP = Low pressure/gun. It should already have a fill nipple on the HP port. Just keep it clean and dry and don't try to install anything between the nipple and the bottle.

Add any common "high pressure" macro line or hoses to the LP port that you want.

You need the stainless band and mounting arm to mount the flatline on a marker. The screws for attaching it to the bottom of the frame are 10-32 and should to be about 3/4" long. Hardware stores have them.

In general the lower holes are for the tank (3kpsi) and the upper holes are for the marker (~400-1000 psi). If your flatline isn't in parts, it should have something in every port except the LP port.

The warpig article is a little hard to follow. Re-read it a few times and some things may get a little clearer. You have the black, square shouldered 3k reg, correct?

Yes I do, and it is very nice .

Thanks for the info. I will try to understand the WARPIG page, but it is hard, that is why I requested the manual.

Not true on either count. The review doesn't say that, and while it is possible to put an elbow on a fill nipple port, that would be neither be desirable, or functional.

I think this is the source of the confusion. The LP ports are output ports - they are not fill ports.

There are two ports that say HP/Tank - both are identical, and they connect directly to the tank. One is to be used for a gauge showing the pressure of gas stored in the tank, and the other is to be used by the fill nipple.

The ports labeled LP/gun are the output gas from the regulator. The regulator's function is to hold back the high pressure gas from the tank, and release it at a lower pressure. One of these ports is to be used by a gauge so you can see the pressure level the regulator is putting out, and the other is, as the review says: "A 1/8" NPT opening allows elbows, braided hose, microline, or macroline to route the output from the Flatline to the paintgun on which it is installed."

It should be noted, that the regulator would have shipped from the factory with gauges installed on the left hand side (when the on/off knob is facing down) so by default, the Fill Nipple would be installed in the HP/Tank (rear) port on the right, and whatever elbows/hoses to the marker in the LP (front) port on the right.

        2) There is a port next to the burst disc. What is that and what are its uses?
If you have it oriented with the on/off knob on the bottom, and the burst disk on top, the two back ports are both the same - they are HP/Tank ports. The one on the left should have a factory installed pressure gauge, and the one on the right should have a factory installed fill nipple.

        3) I have not tried it yet, but are there any tips or rules of thumb for using the regulator?
Yes - especially if it is used - have it inspected by a qualified airsmith - someone who has either had serious general HPA training like from PTI, or has been factory training on these particular regs by AGD.

Compressed gasses are something serious, not to be trifled with - this is the only area of paintball technology that has actually killed people. I've seen what can happen from something as simple as a tiny leak inflating a person's hand with a needle-sized stream of high pressure air - it's not pretty and could have been deadly if the stream had hit an artery - thankfully it only meant a day in the hospital and time to heal.

        4) I also looked on the AGD website and saw this Tank Regulator Check Valve what is it and how is it used?
The fill nipple consists of two main parts. There is the outer nipple, and inside of it is the check valve, which has a seal on it. It is a one way valve that allows air to be blown in, but blocks air from coming back out.

It is normally already there in the fill nipple, and does not need to be purchased separately.

In addition to that, does the AGD site sell screws to mount the Flatline to the Automag?
I don't know off-hand, but you could find that out in a few minutes of browsing through their online store.

Do you have the mount cradle for the Flatline?

That's the curved sheet metal part that wraps around it and holds it to its mount block. If you've got that cradle, block and the drop forward, then all you need are a couple of 10-32 sized screws, which you can get at any hardware store.

That's all I have in store for now, but once again I would really like to have the manual for the Flatline so I don't have to keep doing this too often.
        Not sure that's a possibility...

Also VERY important - you need to take the DOT HAZMAT exemption number from that tank, and find the exemption information for it. The number will be right after DOT on the tank, and you can check the exemption info online at hazmat.dot.gov. The year of manufacture will also be on the tank, stamped in the same area - there will be 2 digits for the month, the maker's mark and 2 digits for the year. You will need to check the exemption info from DOT to be certain since it might be shorter but most likely that tank must be re-tested and certified every 5 years to remain in use.

I appreciate any help and I would practically praise anyone who would give me a link or a pdf. of the manual for the Flatline.
I don't know if a manual was ever made for them. I've not ever seen one.

I asked the same question in an earlier topic, looking for a diagram or something. None yet, but I hope something turns up.

Got the mount screws and 5/8 inch can squeeze past the burst disc unfortunately 7/8 can't but it can go in the next hole with ease. Thanks for the help.
