You are correct about the X-valve. The X-valve (and the RT valve) can employ an adjustable tank to max out the RT effect and pump out blazing speed. Most modern guns, however, don't rely on this trigger/tank combination for speed. They rely on electronics. (Therefore, they don't need the high output that adjustable tanks provide.) So, as far as the mainstream market is concerned, adjustable tanks are no longer necessary. That's why your local guy told you that you're crazy. As far as he is concerned, an adjustable tank wouldn't have any beneficial effect on the high-end electric markers that he's selling.

Next time he says that, just say, "You're right. I am crazy.... about mags!!!!!"

Most of the pro shops around here don't sell adjustable air tanks. However, there are still plenty around. Most of the time it's either used, direct from the retailer, or on a special store like Air Soldier.

They are still around, and still plenty are being made. It's just more of a specialty item. They just aren't usually at the walk-in pro shops.

I have an old school 4500 psi rated maxflo reg if you are interested, you would just need the tank itself. PM me if interested, I have a newer maxflo on the tank I use, and enjoy it. (Silver)
