    HPA Regulators

I've been told a little story that I'm willing to try out but wanted to get a few more oppinions of (hopefully) ppl who work with regs and HPA.

I was told that the only real difference in a 4500 PSI HPA reg and a 3000 PSI HPA reg was theg burst disks.

    I have a reg from a 3000 PSI tank on a 4500 PSI tank.

Can I replace the burst disk in 3000 PSI reg to a burst disk that would go into a 4500 PSI tank reg and be ok to fill the tank to 4500 PSI without a catastrophe?

If the reg itself is only rated for 3000psi you don't want to put it on a tank with 4500psi. If it is a reg already capable of 4500psi that was just put on a 3000psi tank then yes, with a new gauge and burst disk you should be okay.

I would prefer to be safe than sorry, especially with how cheap hpa regs are these days.

This really depends on the manufaturer, some use the same components with different burst disks but some don't. I agree with the above, better safe. I have a 4500 psi reg that I'm using on a 3000 tank, but still have to be cautious that someone doesn't get confused/stupid and overfill it. PM me if your interested in looking at a trade.
