    Retro valve help

I am trying to get a ULT installed on my retro valve, I really don't want to spend the money on a X-valve when I pretty much have one already. I can't seem to find anyone who can explain to me how to go about doing this though. And Idealy I would like to have someone else do it for me so I don't really mess up my valve but I don't know who that would be and tuna never responds to my email. Help me please I would like to be using a spydermag frame before next season.

You are a god send man. No one on Pbnation could help me. If I pay you do you think you might be able to do it for me. I don't know that much about machining ( even though I work with machine shops every day, I sale parts wahsers). It would be a huge help.

I have further information to help you, from someone who has done quite a fiew mods, (I have the same RT valve prob, I would realy appreciate it If you would do the work (I would pay ofcorse) I do not have access to a machine shop.
Here is what I was told to do and with what parts, etc..

All this information was given to me by jerhew from AO.

im not sure how much other research you've done on the subject but just be sure before you even read this, you know the exact difference between the 1 and 2 o-ring valves...
and, by doing this yourself there is always the danger of doing something wrong and ruining the valve
        that said:
i don't remember the size bit, but i used a forstner drill bit(google it, you should be able to find one at a hardware store, think i got mine at sears hardware), basically you want it to fit somewhat snug into the cavity where the on/off valve goes, but not so tight that it'll bind when you start drilling. I completely disassembled the valve bare, no o-rings, no other parts, just basically a hunk of stainless steel. Put it either into a vise and use a hand drill or a drill press(would be better probably) and basically just drilled it out a little bit at a time until the seat that the single o-ring fit into was gone. use plenty of cutting oil and go slowly. I ended up pretty much ruining the bit by the time i was done because stainless is kinda hard to drill, but it didnt matter, it served it's purpose. be sure to blow the valve out with air in all it's passages to make sure there's no filings left in it when you reassemble.

the forstner bit didn't leave the smoothest edge and i was worried that i may have ruined my valve, but i lubed up the ult and dropped it in anyway and it turned out, it didn't really matter. since the ult valve body doesnt actually move when fired(just the parts inside it), it doesnt have to be 100% perfect.
even if you end up drilling a bit too deep, you just end up using more spacers in your ult.
my gun has worked flawlessly for probably over 3 years now...

If any of this seems to be beyond your skill or you just don't have the guts to risk ruining your valve, im sure you could take it to any machine shop, explain what you want done and they'd easily be able to do it for a minimal charge.

good luck, let me know how it turns out for you

Forstner bits are for wood! You will need a 3/8 bottom cutting endmill. It will need to be drilled out as much as the oring takes up.
