    Painting an Automag classic?

Anybody know if you could easily paint / spray paint the automag classic body. It is just round and metal,

    It seems easy.

If you can paint stainless steel you can paint the body, it might scratch off after some wear though.
Il n'y a point de sots si incommodes que ceux qui ont de l'esprit.

You can paint the stainless steel parts pretty well, but it won't be near as durable as a good powder coating.

just make sure it's clean and free of all oils and fingerprints and wad some paper up in the openings of the ends to keep the paint out. it works out easy enough with light coats and a clear coat top to it. i did that to one of my minimag bodies and it actually turned out very well.

like everyone says tho, it's not that durable at all. there's a few people on here that do powder coating that would turn out looking just as nice and you wouldn't have to worry about it chipping off or scratching.

clean it really well, maybe even give it a quick sanding to help the paint bind. I like to use a 50% alcohol/water mix for cleaning my paintball gear works really well for getting off the paint. You should try to seal up the insides though so that the overspray does not get inside the body. just stuff it full of tissue or something.

I also spray painted an old micromag body that I have, it does flake off from time to time but then I just paint it again.

I've never tried it myself, but I've always wondered about hard enamel paint... the kind that you would use on appliances.

I would think that it would have a harder finish and looks glossy. I just don't know how well it would bond to stainless steel. Perhaps some sort of enamel primer?
