    Emag charger not working

I've done a little searching around on here, and couldn't find an answer related to my problem with this charger. Basically, it won't charge the battery, and hasn't since I got the gun (used) that it came with. I know the charger is to blame because it is only putting out the same voltage as the source (12v DC). I suspect the transistor it at fault, if it is supposed to be an amplifying transistor. I measured the voltage at the collector and emitter of the transistor and they were equal: 12v. Has anyone had any experience with a problem like this, or can someone measure voltage on all three leads of the transistor on a working charger and let me know what it is supposed to be????? Thanks!

O, and I checked the 1 Ohm resistor, it was fine. And when I opened the charger case, it definitely smelled like something was fried.

Come on people, Da1spaz247 is tryin to fix my charger here so i can play!

Really though, anyone with knowledge about the emag chargers if you could give some feedback it would be greatly appreciated...

can't say i've ever had that problem before. i imagine if you dismantled the charger unit, most of the innards would be labeled with some kind of part ID that you could match w/ radio shack components.

I looked on the transistor, the markings are rubbed off enough that I can't read them.

Do yourself a favor - before you screw up the battery($90) and/or the main board ($200) just spring for a new charger.

I seem to recall a thread on a replacement charger for those that wasn't AGD.
                Ah yes here it is.

yes, just spring for a new one. finding components to fix your current one would probably run you about the same amount as just buying a whole new one when you factor in time and frustration. i only bring up the radio shack/soldering iron option for the true tinkerers out there.

i am definitely not one of those tinkerers.

because $90 isnt cheap for a college student, id rather spend $5 at radio shack and fix the broken component

well, if you're just going to get a new one, then maybe I'll swap in a transistor just for kicks later. I can check the output with my multimeter to determine if it would damage anything or not.

That one lists something in the fine print toward the bottom of the page:

"Don't charger (sic) battery pack with voltage less than 12V or Voltage bigger than 16.8V and capacity less than 1100mAH"

The standard AGD pack is 650 mAH, and even the upgraded packs that KCrule sells are only 1000 mAH.

Does anyone know the specs on the transistor or feel like opening there charger up and measuring the voltage. This would be really helpful so we can find the correct replacement.
