    get a minimag...

If you get a cocker, you have to change your name...

Look through the old threads here and you will find your answers. this has been debated 1000's of times, and there is no real answer...

preference: like to tinker and replace all the stock parts? get a cocker. like to "plug and play" with no worries about performance? get a mag.

        not true

Not true, really, there is an answer and I'll try to explain it as best as I can. The fact is, is that both of these guns have great parts in them, or at least ones that have a high-performance initially. So upgrading is almost not needed in most areas, and I know with a Mag some upgrades can just hurt the performance of the gun. What it comes down to with deciding on a Mag or Cocker is experience level because honestly Cocker parts wear very fast, or they cause problems for some other reason (like the 3-way leaks a lot). If you are experienced you should be able to care for the Cocker. With a Mag, you get the same level of performance, *same distance*, but the Mag holds up very very well and has little problems, if ever. Another point would be how quiet the gun is. Cocker wins here, although unless you are going to spend a LOT of money silencing the gun to the point where it just clicks, a quiet gun isnt really that useful. Both are quiet enough, and although I would like my Mag to be quieter, im sure once I shoot at someone they can figure out where I am. I know black magic users that shot at me from a bush totally covered yet I knew where that paintball was from. And that gun is 600-700 (not totally sure of the price). One thing many notice is that Cockers look nice. A lot of times you are paying for the milling and anodizing. I have to admit some look really cool except when I look at the price I know that it isnt going to perform at the level it should with that price. Mags can look really cool too, and I have a good idea of what I am doing, except it will cost me a lot of money too. Finally, the last thing, is size. There is a thread on gun height, but that isnt the only place where the Mag beats other guns in size. It beats every gun in size everywhere. Get a pic of a cocker and a mag, or the real thing, and look at the difference with the pics side-by-side. Smaller size allows easier manueverablity. I had a tipp98 before and man that thing is lonnnnggg and the transition to the Mag was critical. Looking at this, you decide. It depends on the player, and thats why most people argue over this.

i think i will probably go with a mag since i did own a tippmann before and im generally good with tinkering but if i screw up one thing and cant get it fixed my dad gets pissed and breaks it even more trying to fix it the only thing is though is trying to convince my parents to let me get this now that i know a little better

i wanted the cocker for about a month now but it isnt worth the mantinace i suppose

the only benifit to a cocker over a mag is air efficency. Other than that I like mags because I can't shoot a cocker with a strait back trigger pull. They used to call me short stroke the kid. Now with my mag they call me the team captain.

              My oh my,

At first I used to enjoy posting to threads like these to show the pros and cons.

I dont wanna say get a Mag, since of course its a biased answer since this is a Mag forum. Get either gun, they are both good. From my experiences, Cockers owners tend to buy a Mag and love it. And Mag owners tend to buy a Cocker and love it. Eventually they will own both guns.

My bro owns a Cocker I own a Mag we both luv our guns.

Trial and error, the best decision maker.
