    Automag psi help

Hey i just bought a new Tac one and a Smart parts 68/4500 tank. I've heard that the tac (like other mags) perform better at 800+ psi. the micromax is set to 800psi will that be a problem for anything except RTing?

Nope, you'll be fine. The increased pressure just adds to the RT effect.

        Thanks

thanks, my dealer who's not familiar with agd, was afraid because mags need a lot of air.

I use adjustable tanks and usually set pressure around 650-750 psi. for a softer pull. but 800-850 works fine as well.

Lowering the input pressure doesn't affect the trigger pull. It affects the rt kick back. Only the chamber pressure and size of the on-off pin affects the trigger pull force and the chamber pressure is only changed when you adjust the velocity.

jlamont2020: The 800 psi output on your tank should be fine as long as your chamber pressure is 600psi or lower (at least a 200psi difference). For all but a few special setups, it generally is. The original level 7 mag operated at about 350 to 400 psi. The level 10 supposedly operates between 450 psi and 550 psi. 550 psi is 250 psi difference from 800 so your recharge will be fine.

Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but it sure feels "easier" to pull at a lower input pressure. (probably due to the reduced "rt kick back".

Yup, it is just a perceived reduction because of the reduced RT effect.

Here is an animation (WMV) showing that the regulated air supply is enacting on the on/off pin's shaft at the bottom on/off o-ring which determines the force needed to pull the trigger.

Unregulated air supply only acts on the on/off pin's top at the on/off top o-ring which determines the force of the RT effect.

Don't feel bad if it takes you a while to understand all that is going on. It took me a while. TK is one hell of a smart guy to have figured all of this out years ago.

my friend sets his maxflow to like 1000 or 1200 but has a huge amount of rt.

i can shoot my gun down until the preset tank is around 400-500 with no issues but i cannot use rt or even walk the trigger very well.

if you want to have consistency over the tank internal psi dropping bump up the out put psi, while once it gets below that you will still have the weird pulls it should not change much if at all until it is that low

That WMV doesn't work for me, but I think I've seen it before, and I think this is the best animation to understand RT, made by ZDSPB:

As a general guide line for RT / X Valves...

Most preset tanks are like 8-900 psi. That standard pressure will work fine and have a fairly light trigger pull. This works great for efficiency if you are in E mode on an E/XMag. If you concentrate your efforts in mech mode, than about 1100-1300psi is a nice pressure. If you are going for absolute crazy speed in rt mode, than a direct input of 2000psi from a scuba is best bet.

Less pressure, lighter pull, faster e mode, slower rt.
More pressure, harder pull, slower e mode, faster rt.

Find the sweet spot for your marker. Ive found this to be on an average 1150psi.

                      Hope this helps

thats about where my friend had his xvalve mech and it can rt at a crazy speed
