Modded My ULT On/Off! It Works!

So I was having all these problems with my ULT and choffing, well I went to the hardware store to see if I could find some shims.. Well I found something similar and well better.. An o-ring [5/16 x 3/16 x 1/16 #36] put it on there with the shims and removed them one by one, with about 3 I got a response trigger effect, one shot on the pull, one on the release.. Pretty cool. Anyways just leaving one shim worked the best. Here is some pictures..

    Before

    After, metal shim not shown.

    Together

Anyways it works. Only thing it doesn't like is if I release the trigger super slow, but when I took it out and shot it, no problems works fine, trigger feels soo snappy, its great, no short stroking, no drop off. I love it..

I also tried to mod the trigger with a return spring, had a spring that went down the whole trigger pin and hit the back of the trigger, however, this gave it the effect of trigger being held down constantly, I didn't know it took that little pressure to activate the the on/off valve/ trigger pin..

Yeah, my mag did that as well when I had it shimmed up. Refs weren't too pleased, so I took out some shims. But it is pretty crazy, you can walk it as fast as an electro the way it is.

Nice Job! Heh, I was the one telling you to take out the ULT to save yourself from a headache.

Not too sure how that "auto response" will fly w/ the refs but it sounds interesting.

... now what size is that o-ring again?

I tried this but couldn't get my X-valve back in. Am I missing something?

I can get you guys an o-ring for like 1.00 shipped, but I want to test it first make sure it doesn't wear out quickly..

Also It doesn't response trigger any more, it was just when I had a bunch of shims on it..

                  Seems Like.....

Seems Like It would Be The Same As An RT on/Off at this point,The o-ring is probably sealing the spot where the air vents to make the trigger light.I don't know though,I'd have to see it.I guess its probably lighter by a bit due to the shim venting SOME air.

Umm you may have had too big of a o-ring, or too many shims, I found that with 4-5 shims the valve wouldn't go on the body because the on off stuck out too far..

As long as the oring keeps the top half from rotating, it should be fine.

The reason you got a response like operation is due to the on-off pin opening up before the sear fully engaged the bolt thus forcing the bolt forward. Removing a couple more shims shortened the distance and prevented that from happening.

so is the main problem with a ULT in a mag is that there isnt enough shims in the kit?
i thought it was the force the air valve pushed the pin back open

                        sweet! ima try now

There are lots of shims in the kit when new. The ULT is not designed for use with a classic valve. The classic valve uses regulated air at about 400psi to push the pin back. The retro valve that the ULT was designed for uses 850psi to push the pin back. The lower classic regulated on-off feed pressure combined with the smaller pin of the ULT means there isn't enough force to push your finger out if you don't fully release the trigger on your own.
