my field gets fresh batches of paint in every 1-2 weeks.
    They sell

    -Evils ( these any good?)
    -marbs
    -premiums
    -all star
    -whitebox
    and I think thats it

What kind of paint should I be looking for? Where do you guys get your karnage paint that your talking about? Is online an alright source?

I'd buy the Marbs if you can afford it. They're your best bet.

They also have stingers, which I just asked the field goers and they highly reccomend that paint but ive heard from other sources that it is crap.

Is the internet a viable paint buying source?

I think im going to buy a bag of each over time and test it out for myself, is there a quality control test I can do? slip over a certain size phantom detent over them to check for roundness and drop test them for quality? is it 2 drops that is supposedly "good quality" paint, I forget sorry.

        Thanks

I've always been skeptical of buying paint over the net or mail order, since you don't know how long it takes before it gets to you, and what sort of conditions it endured when the courier was shipping it. At least with a shop or field, you can ask how often they get deliveries etc. Of course, I have no clue what makes me think the paint at the shop/field didn't go through the same terrible conditions when being shipped there...

Hmm I guess ill look around for near by paintball stores/ fields that sell better paint?
What is reccomended? Although I only play recball, I want a really decent paint because half of the time im using my phantom and my eliminations count on it.

            Thanks

The problem is the fact that you shot reballs. The stock barrel that comes with the tac is around .690 I believe, and reballs are rediculously small, .678 or something like that. When you shoot the ball, a crapload of air is escaping around the ball, so the shot consistency is going to suck. As everyone has said, a barrel kit is the only way to go.

                I wasnt shooting reballs
I was shooting evils at the field. :)

edit: Ordered a JJ elite barrel kit, looks like a nice addition.

could even be your level 10, if its set to be super light on paint, and you have a stiff detent, it may very well have a hard time pushing a ball past it. I know sounds stupid, but I had this problem or at least very similar with velocity till I changed out orings till I found one that was a little looser...

and like you said, its new, it will take some time for the reg orings to wear in, but teh level 10 one should be getting close to perfect by now! my Emag only can get + - 5 over teh chrono, not spectacular, but defiantly good enough to hit things with one shot, keep it oiled, but do not over do it, as that will only cause problems.

Im gonna take it to the field this weekend and when im done playing at the end of the day ill chrono it just to ensure maximum break in.Hopefully it is just that my paint is way small for my barrel and the JJ elite kit on the way will fix it.

Quick question-Whats the best way to size paintballs in the barrel kit? same way as a regular barrel just only in the insert?( in this case the JJ backs)

                    thanks

Just drop a ball into the back of the barrel back or insert. It should barely touch on two opposite sides of the ball. This is optimal fit.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

With the barrel off the gun, place a ball in the breach end of the barrel. Put the end up to your eye so that you can see the ball in the barrel. There should be light shining around the ball except in two spots where it touches the barrel. If there are more than two spots it means that the barrel is too tight. If the ball is small enough that it is only touching on one spot, then the barrel is too big. I alway err on the side of too big. That way you'll never have to worry about breaking a ball in the barrel. I use a 0.696" bore for everything.

                            Thanks thomas, nicely said.

Just got my Barrel kit in the mail ( JJ elite).
Are the black o rings supposed to just slip on the main barrel slot behind the threads? They seem extremely small for it.

The orings are probably elastic and will stretch. Sometimes they are used between the two barrel halves. If they are already there or are a different size, then they are most likely ones to go over the back threads to keep the barrel from becoming loose as you shoot. In that case, put the orings over threads so that the oring squishes between the barrel and the body (with the oring outside of the body).

                                I have 8 o rings and 8 barrels.
There is no o rings anywhere, on the inserts, the main barrels, nothing.
There is no notches on the inserts though so im assuming the o rings go onto the main barrel.
