    Bent lip on Tank Regulator

So the "perfect condition" tank I bought was appearently dropped and the lip where the o-ring goes was bent a little. Not too bad but enough to be annoying.

Any idea how to straighten it back out?

    Thanks!

You can use something round and hard like a punch and tapping it from the top with a brass hammer, but if it dose'nt leak I would leave it alone. Don't bend/bang on it too much or you'll work harden it may cause metal fatigue.

Yeah, if it doesn't leak or slice o-rings, leave it be. If its hard to get o-rings on it, I'd probably file out the groove a little bit with a set of jeweler's files instead of trying to bend it back. If you try to bend it back most likely you'll break off a section of the lip, which will still be alright since the sealing pressure is on the other side of the gland. I've got a Centerflag reg that has been lightly dropped and has a part of the lip bent over and I just left it because it doesn't leak or cause troubles.

I didn't even think of metal fatigue, or just useing a file. I had it filled the day I got it and I heard only a very slight leak coming out the asa, but nothing bad, just more an annoyance.

        Thanks for the info!

Just file it smooth in the groove and on top so that it doesn't affect the seating of the oring or the bottle. It will be fine.
