    rain and electros

I finally played for the first time in 8 months yesturday, and it felt great! It was suppose to rain so i brought a hypermag and a minimag just in case. Upon airing the minimag with CO2, wich i had never tried before, it started venting from the back (I fixed it when i came back home). So i was forced to take the hypermag. It performed flawlessly all day, even when the tippmanns were going down.

During the first half of the day, it was very humid but not too rainy, so everything was fine. As the day went on, the rain was intensifying and so were my concerns about my marker's safety. I did what i could to prevent it from getting too much water by making sure it was dry after every game. On the feild, it was a different story, the heavy rain was my main concern and i stayed away from big pudles of water when i could.

Since i have a classic body, i was afraid of getting water through the air hole on top of the feedneck. Although water is unlikely to reach the sear assembly, it is still a possibility.

So how much rain is too much and what can happen? Do you play with electros when you get weather like that? If so, any good advice for me?

I might have scored a nightmarre for 50$, i'll have an answer in 2 weeks

Ive played in snow/rain with my high end electro's before. The trick is to use KY jelly and smother the "gaps" all around the grip frame such as all around the grips, where the grip frame meets the body, etc. this will act as a temporary sealant. You will have to add more between games and such.

Ive played in rain storms with my ego, PM7, DM7, etc.

well KY is waterproof in essence..its also a lube for naughty stuff...

But in all seriousness, KY is very effective for temporary waterproofing, especially when its caked in small cracks such as around the grip panels, etc...

          along with the KY..

I have a "spydermag" and along with the KY btw is what I use too. its messy but works.
I replaced the mettal screws from frame to board with plastic/nylon screws. Hyperframes are pretty tough though, my spydermag has never had problems in heavy rain & puddles with the setup we have aggreed on.
ooh and with the classic body.. if you use a force feed body just tape off the hole if you have wories.. If you even have a lvl 10 you dont need to worry about blowback on regular hoppers so tape with that should be fine too. I did that on my backup with my spyderframe it worked perfect even at high ROF, I use a halo b2 though. Hope we could help ya

Well not that I have actually let my marker sink into a mud puddle or anything, but last year one of the tourneys I went to was SERIOUSLY waterlogged. It was raining cats and dogs with huge puddles of water everywhere. I swear I think there were fish in some of those puddles. I didn't have a bit of trouble that was electronics related.

I did find out how much it sucks to have a speed feed in the rain though....
