    x-valve???

hi everyone... so im considering buying an x-valve and would like to learn about how they work. im familiar with the 98 custom reavtive trigger... in this system the trigger is reset with excess co2. does the x-valve work like this? i saw a diagram that showed what looked like a cylinder/piston inside of the trigger frame that pushed up a rod to rester the sear.

I don't think you can compare it to Custom 98,You only can use Nitro or Compressed air for Xvalves. Maybe this will help.

thanx these are great links but i was curious as to how exactly the trigger resets in the x-valve... is air used to simply push out the on/off pin after firing? or what?

The reactivity comes from the air entering the empty dump chamber - when it first comes in, it kicks that on/off pin out, which in turn moves the sear and trigger.

sounds simple. what about fine tuning .. i know the lvl x needs it but what about the rest of the valve?

by dump chamber do you mean on off valve?

The mag is essentially an air chamber attached to a regulator. The sear holds the bolt in place which prevents it from releasing the air. The on-off separates the regulator air path from the chamber. The force needed to fire the gun is a combination of the air pressure on the on-off pin combined with the friction on the sear/bolt. After the gun is fired the force to reset the on-off pin is the same regulated pressure in the classic mag. In the retro/x valve the stepped on-off pin means the trigger pull force is reduced because of the smaller diameter of the bottom of the pin. The reset force is full unregulated pressure on top of the larger top section of the pin. The result is a large difference in force between what is required to fire the gun and what is provided to reset the mechanism. This is what provides the retro kick. There is no excess air required to operated the system, nor is the effect as drastic as the 98 reactive trigger without increasing the supplied tank pressure.

Typically, other than the level 10 and the ULT, the actual valve will not need to be tuned, but will need to have the pressure set (velocity adjustment).
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

so youre saying that the actual bounce of the trigger is less drastic than the 98's?

also does the ULT come standard on the X?

The reactive trigger on the 98 creates a full auto effect. The reactive trigger on a retro valve has to have just the right combination of input pressure and finger force. You can get it to go full auto, but it isn't designed to do that without some tweaking such as making the on-off pin a bit shorter.

The ULT is not a stock item on the X-vavle but can be ordered with the Xvalve as an option in place of the retro on-off.
