Hey all. I have a minimag valve whose velocity has a bizarre problem. It is unable to fire between 180 and 316 fps, though it seems that it can be adjusted to go above 316 or below 180. I have been using Co2, though somebody recently told me that was bad for the valve. Is that true? When I first bought it half a year ago, the factory chrono slip said it chronoed at about 280 fps, so I assume this developed over time. Does anybody have any idea what could be wrong with my valve? Thanks for looking, and I apologize if this is something really obvious, but my instruction manual is 400 miles away right now.
Minimag velocity problem

First try cleaning and oiling the main seal. If that doesn't help, get a seal kit for your mag, replace all the seals, add oil, and try again. If you must use CO2, make sure your set up has an expansion chamber or remote.
You should be able to download the manual for the minimag from the AGD website. -
well... there should be 2 springs in the back of the valve, take those out and clean the whole chamber, wash off the springs and everything and put it all back together. There could be something like a small rock lodged inside the spring pack that is compressing incorrectly. Its a long shot but hey just try it.Comment

Thanks for all the replies. After getting a chance to strip down the gun, I think I know what the problem is: a while back the on/ off valve somehow got out of whack, and I think I reassembled it incorrectly. However, I'm not sure how to remove the on/ off valve from the gun to check. Thanks again for reading this.Comment

Sounds like a story there. How come you reassembled it but you're not sure how to remove it?Originally posted by SkyblazerThanks for all the replies. You just pull it out (no screws), preferably with your finger nails. You might need a knife blade to get it started. If it is a factory, stainless, round bottom on/off, then it has a little groove you should be able to grab with your nails. If it is flush with the bottom of the valve, that is probably your problem, but there would have to be a little more to the story.
What has the marker had since it came from the factory? CO2 is fine (good, expected, etc.) for a minimag valve. If you have oiled it well recently, it may be time for some new seals or just a good cleaning. Some CO2 can be more than a little dirty, especially if it comes out of upside down beverage cylinders
