Power tube tip thread just sheared right off!

Have you ever seen this happen? I have a classic 68 valve on a bone stock mag. Before anyone says it, no it was not crossthreaded. I screwed it all the way down with my fingers, flush and then used a quarter to just barely tighten it.
We played a scenario game on Saturday and I used the gun the entire day. Not one ball break, (lvl 7 bolt) no problems all day. At the very end of the day with about 10 minutes left in the scenario the gun just stopped recharging and the trigger went slack. Since it was at the end of the day I just left it till I got home. When I popped it open at home the power tube tip fell out onto the table and I found the entire first thread of the tip sheared off inside the tube and the o-ring was chopped in half! Needless to say the tip is ruined. Ever heard of this happening before or have any clue why it would happen?

You hear about it every now and then on AO. Were you the original owner? I haven't heard of one that anyone knew for sure it had never been over tightened.

The damage has never been catastrophic before either. Will you be able to just replace the tip and oring?

No I bought this one used. It looked fine when I replaced all the o-rings and such. Didn't see any evidence of anything.

No it's not catastrophic. I will just have to replace the tip and the o-rings.

Cool. I wouldn't bother getting an extra. It doesn't happen often and now that you know it happens, I'll bet you will take care of it.

I think I might have figured out what happened. I bought 2 classic mags used to get back into paintball. Apparently the same thing happened on the other one or almost did. It looks like the o-ring on the power tube tip was a black rubber o-ring and slightly too small so the power tube tip kind of unscrewed itself over the day of play and eventually was just barely hanging on. The other mag didn't quite unscrew all the way so it didn't mess up the threads but it was getting close.
Where do I find this specific sized o-ring so I can buy a few backups? The Automag spare parts kit thingy doesn't seem to have the right one in it.
