    Using a 16" All-American Barrel with a mag

I just started using a 16" all american barrel with my mag. Some of the differences I noticed compared to my old 11" crown-point barrel barrel are: The AA is much more quiet. I easily have the quietest gun on the field I play at.. granted the blow back bolt pirahna rentals they have arent the quietest. Other things I noticed is that the ball will shoot straight out the barrel for a good 50 feet, then will start to cork-screw in any direction. Also the gun seems to not be getting as much range as most the other guns on the field. I noticed this with both the AA and the stock crown point. I always chronograph my gun between 285-295fps. I current;ly use an classic A.I.R. valve and a lvl 7 bolt. Is there anything I can check on the internals of the gun that could be causing the shorter shooting range my gun has?

I am waiting right now for UPS to drop off an x-valve and lvl10 bolt, I will update how that performs with the barrel as well, but I would still like to get my old classic valve and bolt working good cause that is gonna get rebuilt for my girlfriend to use

If you are shooting at the same velocity, you will get the same distance. Maybe it "looks" like it has less distance, but in reality, it has the same. You will not change the laws of physic by looking into a classic valve.

Just don't use CO2 with the xvalve. It's ok for a classic valve, but not for the X.

    Last but not least...enjoy it

yeah I just got a 72ci 3000psi HPA last week. That is what everyone is telling me that it probably just seems that way to me that my shots arent going as far as everyone elses. I was just wondering if there was any type of maintance to the bolt that if isnt done that could effect your shooting range. I oil the valve everytime I play but I just started using the gun about a month ago after being away from the sport for close to 7 years. well I just got home and my x-valve was here waiting for me. I will set it up tomorrow after work and we will see what happens.

Has anyone had any experience with a 16" all american barrel with their mag? good or bad?

I use that same barrel in my RT, and I love it. Good paint makes all the difference though for accuracy. I got a hold of some good paint a couple weeks ago and that barrel was sending them ball on ball down the field (the stock RT barrel wasn't doing so well with the same paint).

I have a 16" AA and a 12" tear drop. The AA works well generally. I haven't found a paint yet that the tear drop shoots well. My crown point works better than the tear drop, and makes a nice sound.

If your in the woods like most of us your probally playing against flatline and apexed barrels. the only barrel that will out shoot yours at the same fps are those.I've owned 7 tippmanns and have all the barrels you could think of. I built my first mag this summer and finally started playing with it. The distances that I used to hit with my apexed A-5 I can't hit with Automag, But my accuracy on the field is unmatched. Remember to keep playing with your mag and get used to how it shoots. If you put something new on it every week it can never be consistent. Once you've played with your marker for a while then you'll know what you need. Other than that
              arc your balls!!!!!

              chuff chuff!!!!!
