    Sputtering?

So I recently aired up my mag to get ready for a day on the field, and its doing some really funny things.
It shoots fine and all, but sometimes the trigger sticks a little bit and leaks, and also when I fire it makes a sputtering sound, as well as when I hold the trigger down. It has never done this before and I was just wondering what may be wrong with it cause I'm not that experienced with mags.
Will oiling it be fine? I have heard if you put a few drops of oil into the ASA and fire it about 30 times it will fix most problems, or is it a case of my trigger mech.?

Sounds like an on/off top o-ring leak. Yes oil will help. It never hurts to have a parts kit on hand because it has all the o-rings you need in it.

Thanks, I will try some oil and see how it goes...I will have to get a parts kit, nowhere in my area sells them so I have to order one online and wait for it to come in.

Something synthetic is preferable to hydrocarbons (unless they're edible).

Just before I make another mistake, as for oil...air tool oil is most suitable?

Do a search for 'lube' and you'll get a lot of different stuff. 'Air tool oil' alone doesn't really define what you need. One old thread is about several different air tool oils and the original poster settled on one. The only thing wrong with Hoppe's, 3 in 1 and autolube is that they were not synthetic and would harden the orings relatively quickly.

I find air tool oils a little thin. Some are designed to be put in an airline oiler and feed continuously. In some relatively recent threads you find olive oil too. Look for something that is :

            1) available
            2) synthetic or at least not refined from crude oil.
            3) slippery (not always a given)
            4) has a viscosity similar to light oil (the three mentioned above)

I use superlube multipurpose oil and sometimes valvoline synthetic spray.

So I tried the oil...didn't work.
So I guess I have to get a parts kit and replace the on/off o-rings?
I hope its nothing more than that because it does look like there is some damage to the smaller one. Wouldn't be anything more than that do you think?

Nah, classic symptoms of a leaking on/off o-ring.
