I live in South-Africa and don't quite understand the imperial screw sizes 100%, so does that include the shaft diameter? Basically what does the "8" and "32" stand for?

8 is the nominal size, which is 0.164 inches at the major (top of thread) diameter.

32 is for threads per inch.
