OWOMS- Old worn out mag syndrome....

    ....I guess.

Well, bought this mag last year some time ago, not sure when, but it never shot quite right. For some reason the bolt would not reset all the way, and get stuck about half way back, leaving the sear dis-engaged and just kind of stagnant, rendering the gun useless. The only thing I can think of that could cause that is the bolt spring...seeing as it is kind of rusty and I can fully depress it with my fingers. (can get pictures if needed)

The next issue I have is the bottom half of the sear being *too short* the person I bought it from modified it to work with a bushmaster frame (no idea why) and I wanted to put the original Benchmark frame on it. When I did so the sear did not even get out of the trigger frame and made no contact with the trigger. I am also posting a picture to see if it is the correct style of sear.

Until now I haven't had much money or time to work on it, so I am looking for any other suggestions to what could be causing the recocking problem.

Showing how small the sear is alone-

Sear with frame and boy for more relativity-

your pin that hits against your trigger (sear rod) needs to be longer. If he cut it I have some new ones here that you can have (for free). Your spring when on your bolt should be 1/4"-1/2" longer than your bolt. If it is not then it is worn out. If it is bad I have a few of those you can have for free also. I would make sure to clean everything real good (no rust on your bolt, body, sear).

You also need to make sure your powertube oring is not dry rotted/bad. that needs to be real oily. it helps with the bolt sliding in and out. You should also check to make sure that your powertube tip is not too big (causing more pressure on your oring & causing bolt stick). I have a few smaller spacers you can have for free if you need them.

    Good luck.

a new main spring and new sear should probably take care of your issues (looks like he ground down the trigger rod to accommodate the other frame he had on there).

doh Mann beat me to it.
