    Increasing Reactivity?

    I've been trying to increase reactivity on my mag for awhile now. Before I drop more $$$ on this thing (new adjustable reg) or just give up and go pneumag, I wanted to see if there is anything else I should adjust or check with my current setup.

    Currently I have a ReTro Valve with Level 10. No ULT. I'm currently using the red bolt spring. I can't remember my carrier and shim settings off the top of my head. I have an Intelliframe, and I have a NitroDuck iReg on Nitroduck 4500 tank set at 1000psi (iReg set with piston).

    I can get some reactivity, but nothing sustainable. I just want to get this thing cooking in rapid fire for once.

    Any advice at this point or should I just move on with another adjustable reg? Thanks.

    a ult will decrease reactivity so dont go that way.

    some valves are just more reactive than others. some take 1200psi to get going others 800(on a high flow reg).

      You could try a slightly shorter on/off pin from AGD (I think they're about $8), and if that doesn't work go with the adjustable valve. Or both. Firstcallpaintball has adjustable raptor rex regs for about $20. They work great, I've cranked mine up to 1200psi and the reactivity is amazing. Word of warning though, the regs they have in stock have been sitting for a few years and you're going to want to replace the fill nipple O ring before you try to gas the tank up. Absolutely worth the money IMHO.

        best way to get more reactivity (that i have found) is to throw in the shortest bolt spring you have which should be the gold one. This will lower your velocity a lot which will make you need to increase it via turning the velocity adjuster up way more. This will increase the pressure behind the pin and works every time for me

          Exactly. I use the gold spring and have 3 lvl X shims and I get great reactivity out of a standard fixed output Crossfire HPA. I'm sure that a 900 or 950psi would make it rip.

          Otherwise, the red spring won't let me trigger the RT.

              Don't use the red spring, use the blue one. If you want a very reactive trigger, throw in four shims inside the powertube..

                Shims in the powertube have nothing to do with reactivity and only affect how far the bolt needs to travel to vent air if a breach blockage occurs. The short bolt spring helps reactivity by lowering the chamber operating pressure required to fire a paintball. This increases the pressure differential between the input and chamber which increases the reactivity. Adding a couple of shims in between the on-off halves will simulate a shorter on-off pin and will also help with reactivity.
                Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

                  Yup Emag on/off pin if you don't already use it and the short spring. If you want to keep your anti chop you'll need an adjustable reg. At least thy're cheap used.!

                    I'm using the .740 pin in my Retro and it is really reactive. Not 25-35 bps reactive, but somewhere about 15 bps. I'm using the gold spring.

                        The gold bolt spring increases the pressure differential which helps with reactivity. Another thing that can help is to add a couple of shims between the on-off halves. This simulates a shorter on-off pin. Don't use too many shims or you will squeeze the on-off top oring making it tighter. This slows down the action and reduces reactivity.
