    Shimming PureEnergy HPA Tank

Getting 850psi from my HPA is not cutting it for me... My Mag Valve seems "starved" for more air. I was wondering if anyone has ever shimmed a PMI PureEnergy HPA Tanks before. More importantly, I would like to know how many PSI do I get per shim. I'm thinking of placing a washer in there that is 0.5mm thick (PMI shims are 0.1mm and there are 2 in my reg now).

My goal is to reach at most 1000 psi. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is it the recharge rate? Or the valve just isn't cycling the way it should?

Good question... how can you tell if it's the valve or the HPA reg flow? when my mag was jsut a simple mag... HPA was fine... I've mod it to PneuMag and I feel performance drop (misfire, dropoffs...). Thought upping the PSI output would help both mag valve and HPA reg issues.

The key is, when you do a single shot, or try to rapid fire it, where is the problem?

If you are unable to fire even single shots, its output pressure

if your velocity drops off, or the valve chuffs when you are firing rapidly its recharge rate.

Problem is, PE tanks are horrible. And their recharge is aweful.

It could be something in your pneumatics needs to be adjusted.

yea you might need to adjust your lpr pressure higher

I'm with mostpeople on this one. The PE tank regs suck and on a mag, if you don't have enough flow at the right pressure, these are the kinds of problems you can expect. If you want a commonly available fixed pressure tank, get a CP Air, Crossfire or Guerilla Air tank. If you want an adjustable system, get an AGD Flatline, ND iReg or SP MaxFlo (the old big one, not the Micro).

There are other tanks and systems that'll also do the job, but these are my preferences.

Did you ever find an answer to this question? I'm having the same problem with my classic-valved pneumag, RT on/off, level 7, and PE tank with HP spring pack (~850psi).

Should I just be looking for a better tank regulator?

It's actually better to go with a better tank reg, but being on a budget make it's hard to justify the upgrade. Overall my setup is just fine. But I wanted a little more from my PE Tank.

I can get hold of the shims to do it... just havnt had the time to do it yet. I'm aiming for around 900 PSI Output (+/- 10~50 psi).
