    qLoader tweaking issues

I was impressed with the idea of the qLoader when I saw it, so much so that I bought one. Some times great ideas need some tweaking to be great products.

First time playing with it today and had a few ball breaks in the loader. kinda frustrating because once the loader has a broken ball in it all the balls will come out with paint on them and well thats just not good.

I definitely need to play with the retention clip as it caused at least two breaks. Any suggestions?

Also I had the ribbed tube pop off twice. The first time it popped off the feed tube. I zipped tied it to the frame so this would not happen again. The second time it happened at the loader side; no way to zip tie it there. I think the second time was caused by not having the tube preloaded. The first time was while chronoing the gun, maybe mid way through the clip. I did not see that qLoader makes a clamping elbow? Any suggestions?

Then there was the ball break somewhere in the middle of the clip, I just set this one aside as trying to clean it at the field was more then I wanted to get into. Anyone have this happen often?

Any other tips that you can throw out I am definitely willing to try them out.

    Thanks

First of all, depending on weather and paint, as well as your rate of fire, adjust the tension of the spring in the pod. This should take care of balls breaking in the pod.

    - If the hose pops out, use 2-3 O-rings on the hose when you slide them in and before you slide it lube it with soapy water a little bit (or some spit, if no water is around ).
    - If you use elbow on a feed (not feedneck), wrapping some teflon tape on the feed and then slipping the elbow on will make it reaaallly nice and tight.

That should take care of it. I have mine on ~10 prewinds and haven't chopped a ball even without level 10 bolt!

Q-loaders are great fun. The only time I use hoppers now is when I play with my stock minimag and a remote, so q-loader is just too long my extra-short setup.

      q loader

I have one and love it and hate. If you have paint in the pod and you take a long pause make sure to pop out the ball touching the clip, the clip will deform the ball and "may" break in the tube later.

Before playing, I dry wind and release each pod about 5 times, It helps losen up the springs in the bods, and you can catch issue before they happen.

Just wind the pods with no paint, then place them in the cup to release it back to normal.

I know it may be cheesy but i use a quick srwp of tape to hold my tube on..remember once they pop off there is no stopping that sucker!

I played with it a bit yesterday and made a couple of mods.

At the clip receiver I added the second oring. Might end up putting tap. As you say not pretty but it will save 100 balls from time to time.

At the feed tube I put a non-qloader elbow that has clamping screws. I was worried about not using the internal sleeve that the qLoader elbow comes with but so far it has not been a problem.

Then I put a bit of heat shrink tubing on the retaining clip so that the sharp edges don't make contact with the balls. The added thickness does not seem to pose a problem when the clip is loaded. We'll see once I get a chance to go back out on the field. If this works out I will post some pics. I think of all the stuff I have read this seems to be the weakest link in the loader. Sharp little metal edge for the balls to rest on; eep

        Thanks for the input.
