    classic reg issue

    Hey gang,

Minimag, classic reg, classic body, all stock. New orings all around.

No air leaks, works like a champ when I use a spaced out methodical trigger pull, but when I try to quicken the pace, i get a chokeing sound, I have heard of short stroking the trigger, but i am not sure if that is the issue here.

So when I do a basic shoot and pause shoot and pause of about 1 second intervals I am fine, however if I try to go for a rapid trigger pull the first one shot is fine, but the others are not.

Please tell me this is an easy fix

I assume you are using compressed air (not CO2). The first thing that comes to my mind is that your bottle's output pressure isn't high enough. What is the output pressure of your bottle regulator?

Try loosening your field strip screw to just finger tight. Your new orings may be crowding at the on/off top. Something has shortened the opening at the top. If you changed the bolt spring, make sure the end at the bolt rim isn't sticking out wider than the rest, which would keep the sear from traveling all the way.

Make sure your on/off pin slides smoothly in the new rings. If it's gummy (and maybe cold), the lube can just make it slow to move, even on a classic.

okay I know I am not going to be using the proper termanology,

The outside metal washer on the outside of the on off should that be flush with the valve or just a little above flush, also I read on other threads about the trigger armature, should I mess with that?

I did not change bolt spring

Just above flush. You should be able to grab the bottom grove with your finger nails. The outside edge (side-to-side) of the classic on/off lines up with the outside diameter of the valve because it sits in the rail of the same shape.

            Flush on/off is no good.

Normally, the trigger rod doesn't move by itself. With air on the valve and the trigger all the way forward, the rod should show a small gap of about .5 mm behind the trigger. It could cause your problem. If you did not move the trigger rod, you may have lost your rail bushing and the grip frame is sitting too far back.

The rail bushing is a copper or nickel sleeve between the rail and frame where the field strip screw goes in. It's a pretty common problem for first time rebuilds.

make sure the pressure output from the reg is high enough.

Mabye the reg doesn't have a high enough recharge rate?
