    Some Braided SS questions

So after busting out a 3rd piece of macro line and my 2nd fitting I've decided to move to SS braided line. I searched around a little to try and find the answers I was looking for, but no real good authoritative thread for SS line.

1.) Colored fittings? I found a thread where someone was talking about a company that offered anodized fittings, anyone know where I can find them?

2.) Can you build custom lengths or is it pretty much you buy the closest length and have a little slack?

3.) QD's are pretty much required for maintenance reasons, Are most QD's able to handle the 1200+ PSI we try to run through mags?

I also thought about bending hardline instead of doing braided line, but qd's and spills with hardline had me worried, but has anyone done an aftermarket (not the old RT hardlines) for a custom mag and had good success? Pics would be awesome!

Thanks in advance! Good help here = pics of my mag with my GF/Teammate Beth!

Only other pics I have till mag pics are taken:

    1. I've never seen colored SS fittings. I've seen colored macroline fittings, like in this thread. http://www.automags.org/forums/showthread.php?t=226832 You're trying to get away from that, though.

    2. I don't know of any place that offers custom lengths, but almost every length is already out there. Try an eBay search. That's how I found the 4.5 inch length piece that I needed for the PERFECT fit.

    3. Quick disconnects handle high pressure fine. I have two on my gun and they've never had a problem. (And they're way easier than macroline to get off.)

But I know nothing about hardline, so I can't help you there.

Nice semi-scandalous GF pic, by the way.... but you do know this is an automag forum, right? Showing off the girl only prolongs the wrath. Only a good gun pick will turn it away completely.

There are annodized fittings out there. I had some black and some purple fittings a while back. Got them from my store. I forget who I purchased them through. As far as custom lengths, try Tippman. They have made me some custom SS lines before. QD's should handle 1200 psi. They should handle up to 3000psi actually. Make sure you buy them from a paintball store or someone paintball related. You want to make sure they are int he pressure range you need and not some low pressure fitting like from Lowe's or something.

        You are awesome kind sir!

Yes, I know, need mag pics, but my mag looks so lame right now:

It will be 10000% better once I have some heatshrink covered SS line on that guy...

Actionvillage has several anoed Alum fittings for SS 1/8npt line.

they have green, red, blue and purple, as well as clear.

it doesn't look like they have black...

if you need black I should have some spares. PM me if your interested.

Be careful with aluminum fittings. They don't have the ratings that steel fittings do. Some on the market are thinner than others and could bust under duress at higher operating pressures.

Get good quality steel disconnects. They won't gaul when removing to release pressure. The nickle plated brass ones will. AGD sells some really nice stainless ones. If you can find some of these locally even cheaper, then that is the way to go. I have some of the AGD ones and they are the best QDs that I have.

If you can find stainless line within an inch of the length that you need you will probably be fine. Most of the time, you have a bit of a loop to allow for movement anyway. I have several lengths kicking around so that I can pretty much make any setup. I have not ever needed a special custom cut length. Getting close to the nearest inch was always good enough.

Hard line is the way to go if you can do it yourself or find someone that can do it for you. The one thing you have to do, is cut the Z-groove in your rail so that it goes straight back or you won't be able to twist the valve to allow it to pull back and release the hard line.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

I think I wanna try doing a hardline, it looks sweet I'm having a hard time trying to figure what you are saying with the rail though, are you stating that you should cut a new groove so the valve can just slide back? It sounds kinda dangerous...

I think I heard about this website on this forum somewhere. I haven't actually contacted them but I've just had it saved in my bookmarks for if I do a SS setup. Here's a link. Paragon Performance

xmags have a straight groove. There are some custom rails that do also. The groove is there so the reg does not turn when you adjust the velocity.

You dont have to have a straight groove. I have used std rails before with hardline. In some aspects it makes it easier, but it is not required.
