So I noticed that my xmag valve's lazer engraving is very faded. It has almost completely has lost its white color except the serial number. Any suggestions on cleaning products that are safe or am I stuck with getting it re-laser engraved?

you have three options.
1) re laser engraved (which would be pretty darn hard to do)
2) clean the laser ingraving and fine paint it back to life with high quality paint
3) screw it and just have the valve reanno'ed with your X.

How about a 'high quality paint' to use? Do you have something that will take paint and alcohol?Originally posted by Chris Nearchosdont get me started on that. just a waste of time with that.

yup, now thats the stuff. use either some high quality appliance or automotive white paint (or whatever color you want).
what you need to do is the following (what i highly suggest):
1) clean the area twice with acetone. allow 5 mins to air dry after each cleaning.
2) using the finest stiff tip paint bush you can get ahold of, [any local craft store will have them cheap enough], using a little bit of paint on the tip.....go over the engraving and coat as heavy as you desire.
3) OPTIONAL: to better help protect the paint, i put a thin layer of clear coat over the white paint once it dried. apply this via a paint brush also.

What may work even better is porcelain repair paint. I dropped a glass with very heavy base into the bathroom sink chipping the porcelain i bought this stuff at home depot/lowes (dont remember which) and it has held up now for over a year and has been subjected to cleaning agents and being scrubbed with scouring pad.Comment

good idea. I never thought about that. I will have to give that paint a try next time.

Ya the gun might go in for re-anodizing next year and at that time I will get the valve laser engraved. I got a local guy to do it. I wouldn't try to paint the valve myself because my hand isnt that steady and I wouldnt want to mess up xmag valve with the number xt00178.Comment
