Problem charging Emag & Emag upgrades

    Hello,

I have been out of paintball for about 5 years and was looking to start playing again this summer. I still have my trusty X-mag but lost the cord to plug in the recharging unit. After looking over the forums I went to Radio Shack to try to buy an adapter. I asked the guy there for part "273-1779 M-tip" but he said that part was not in the data base. So he sold me part "273-1775 (12 VDC 1500mA AC-to-DC power adapter) and Adaptaplug M Part 273-1716. When I try to charge it the light flashes green and red. If I plug in just the charger (no battery) it still flashes green/red. So did I get the wrong part from Radio Shack or is my charging unit messed up. If I reverse the polarity (reverse the plug on the wall unit) then no light comes on.

Also, having not been in paintball for the past several years, I haven't kept up on what upgrades are good to get. Until I get my battery problem solved I don't even know what software version is on the gun. Looking for anwsers to my battery problem I came across these things:

    1000 mah XMag battery

    The Bone for Halo

Any thoughts on these 2 items?

I saw a thread about the RPG ULE Bolt but it seems like that project is dead. My gun always worked fine back when I played but any other upgrades which help in efficiency / consistency / weight I am always interested in. Anything that is just for looks I don't care about, I just want the marker to shoot as good as possible.

Hopefully I can get my baby back up and then go shoot some fools at the paintball feilds around St louis this summer.

    Thanks!

Since you use an off model charger it may overcharge your battery and killed it. The battery pack from KT is great, except for one problem, he doesn't produce them anymore.

You can get either the lithium version or the regular version from Chris here:

They are much cheaper than the regular one, you can also pick up a charger from him too.

I did a quick test with a voltmeter.

Plug going into the charger from the wall unit = 13.3 volts DC
screws on top of the charging unit = ~5 volts DC

I had the battery plugged in to charge for about 3 minutes yesterday, didn't want to leave it plugged in with the flashing light.

pk5: I looked at the link, might just buy a whole new battery and charger from there. Thanks.

one of them things though how long are you looking to keep your emag? it might be worth getting a whole new setup, charger battery and all. if its an original pack you might be getting close to its lifespan anyway.

plus you can get one of those super light Li-ion kits w/ charger from him and save yourself 7oz

so you are using this power unit: http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2190632

It will work. when you plug the LED may switch between colors a few time but then just sit on red. if it continues to blink back and forth for more then 2 mins....then something is wrong with the charger or battery. I can test them if you wish (just pay shipping).

as for the thread of mine that was linked, do feel free to ask any and all questions you might have.

I do highly suggest if you have the ability/money to pick up a Li-ion kit to do so. it will bring a much needed upgrade to your X-mag. not only will it give you a great weight saving, you will get a battery setup that will last you a really good long time while increasing the resale of your X if you ever have to come to the point of selling it.

if you wish, i offer my services for a complete tune up of the lowers.

          -Chris

            forgot

forgot to mention that you can take care of the halo battery with me too. I have my external power setups for e/x-mags. they allow you to run warps, halos, and other hoppers from your Emag battery. saving you some money and weight while giving you more out of your e/x-mag battery.

Also, since you have a Xmag....i am not sure the condition of your ACE setup. but if it doesnt work or if you dont have one, you might want to check into my ACE's

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, that is the wall charger I got. I plugged everything back in to charge, this time the light turned red but then changed to green within 5 minutes ( i walked away, didn't watch it). I will leave it plugged in for about 2 hours and test it out on the gun once I get home.

I am interested in Li-ion battery but I want to see what happens with this battery 1st. I am really interseted in a blue screen since my gun is blue/silver but I would need to find 7 other ppl to buy one of those I guess (minimum of 8 at a time).

As for the ACE, i never used the old one, never had to. Between the halo, lvl X, and my slow fingers I never had a problem chopping paint. Powering the Halo off the gun battery would be cool if I can make it look nice, don't want wires hanging off the gun up to the hopper.

And I would never sell the x-mag, I would feel bad since I got it for free. :)

                  well

well, you figure out whats going on with the battery and see what you want to do.

Pretty sure it is the charger. The battery reads ~5 volts after 2 hours, same as the output from the charger. Chris I will you a PM. Thanks.
