I get about 700 good rounds from a 72 ci 4500 peanut. I guess that means that you're looking for probably a 88/4500.

i use a 114ci tank. gives me probably almost a case i would say.

This is a general rule for most guns. 10 shots per cubic inch for a 3000psi. tank. 15 shots per cubic inch for a 4500psi tank. I would say, 114ci/3000psi or a 88ci/4500psi or if you want the best of both worlds, 114ci/4500psi.

Hmm, 1000 shots a day?

Well, let me tell you what I run with.

I have a warp in combo with a Ricochet Apache. That is about 180 on gun, give or take.

I also have a NXe Podpak that holds 4 pods. I use the standard "taper-tip" 140 round pods.
These guys hold on average 135 paintballs, but if you stuff them they will hold 140...

So lets take the larger number and do some math.

140X4= 560

560+180= 740 So this is the amount of paint I have on me before any given game.


The tank I use is a Crossfire 68/4500 airtank and based on what Dawg said (which is a great rule of thumb) I should get 1020 shots.

1020-740= 280 Which is 2 extra pods. 4 in my pack plus the 2 extra is 6 (obviously).


Now, I almost never shoot all 4 of my pods in one game. My last count was at a big-game where the "missions" averaged about a half hour and there were so many people I considered myself trigger happy; I used an average of about 2 pods a game.

If I could shoot 6 pods and a hopper off my tank, that means I played 3 games and part of a 4th without running out of air, so that is just under 2 hours of playing time.

2 hours of playing time, if a speedball game lasts 2 minutes that is about 60 games. And that is on me being trigger happy, if I was calm I could double that number.
Sounds like a nice full day to me.

The tank does perform well in that respect, I can play multiple games without having to refill and if I only bought 1000 rounds then yes, I could have played all day on one fill.


However, I have a habit of topping off my tank and paint before every game.


So I'd recommend a 68/4500. It'd be the smallest tank you can get and still get that many shots.

It's not a small tank, though, it is about the size of a 20oz CO2. Very comfortable and well balanced size, any smaller is very stubby and any bigger is kind of bulbous...

But ultimately the size you prefer is based on your size, but keep in mind what Dawg said when selecting a size and pressure rating.
You will get about 10 shots per CI off of a 3000psi tank, and 15 shots per CI off of a 4500psi tank.

The next biggest size tank you could get to be as close to 1000shots as possible would be a 72/4500 which would get you 1080, and then a 114/3000 which would get 1140.

I would stay with 4500psi until you reach 88CI and I wouldn't go below a 68CI.

Nope... crossfire 72/45 peanut. After re-doing the math I was getting was closer to 740ish maybe a little more... then again i should qualify my answer a little further.

First, I shoot a pneumag... that will loose some air there, but not too much. Other than that I just run a standard XValve with ULT. Now... I also run a QEV that has occasionally popped off it's air line... but that actually doesn't really waste anything it wouldn't already be dumping as long as I'm not holding down the trigger... which wouldn't make any sense because it's a pneumag.

Second, I generally can't get a 4500 psi fill. It depends on the field I go to and when I get to the air station... I tend to get about 4k/fill. I get through the same hopper and 4 pods that you do but by then I'm generally around the 1k mark on my tank and then we start to drop off. Maybe it's just me but I seem to go through more air when I am ripping strings then when I am taking pot shots.

In the end. I agree, a 68/4500 is a good bet. I chose the older 72/4500 because I wanted the bigger peanut. the 68 was a little long for me. an 88 is HUGE!!! gargantuan even...

lil girls have porblems with the big tanks , no hard feelings i just had to

ive run everything on em just about 45/45's last about to the point your done playing around and ready to actually play a game, 68's get your through a game or two after tinkering and the 72's get ya even farther. 88's and 92's is where the real action is at you wanna play all day get one of those. they are a bit longer and bigger which is why coiled remotes or drops were made but yeah Dawg's figures are pretty close

Hey i earned that one. At least I'm not compensating! (what about my 14" barrel???)

Still, I like to keep everything in one tight package... (can't run a drop due to sleeper pneu) 68's are fine but 88's are just too long for my style of play. I also really don't mind heading back to the filling station every couple of games.

forget the 88 or 90+ buy a really big SCUBA tank!!!

I was actually just wondering something like this.. would the output pressure on your tank have anything to do with determining how many shot you would get? for example, I have a nitroduck i-reg 68/4500. When I first got it, the output was 800psi. I recently put the 1000psi piston in.. The presure gauge on my ASA actually shows over 1100psi. I never really counted, but will I get less shots than the 800psi output?

look for a 92cu tank. they are the length of a 68 and the fatness of the peanut stubby tanks. It worked perfect for me on my mags. I got about 1600 shots off of it as well.


I think I saw one for sale in one of the BSTs within the last few days. Short of that, the newer tanks seem to cap out at 70CU, they are by far lighter and smaller than any of the tanks from 3+ years ago

I use both a 88-3000 and a 68-4500. I often never get a high air fill so the 88 usually gives me the most shots in a run. When I have 4500psi available, both the 88 tank at 3000 psi and the 68 at 4500 psi give me over 1100 shots on a fill.

I don't find the 88 too big at all. It allows the gun to sit properly out in front of me without me being all cranked up in a ball.

You can maximize your efficiency using the proper size barrel without a lot of large porting and a long enough unported section. Something around 11" is usually best. Any longer and you lose efficiency. Any shorter and you lose efficiency. Of course, each setup is a little different, but those lengths are basically the norm for efficiency.
