Is shimming the RT ON/OFF realy bad?

Ok, I've read threads on it but none seem to have a consensus.

So, is shimming the on/off in an RT or X valve actually bad for your mag in any way? Does it lead to faster wear of parts? If its fine, how many do you generally use, these are just Lvl10 shims correct? Thanks for any info.

In theory, it is the same as grinding your on/off pin, but reversible. However, it doesn't really give you a good solid base like the ULT on/off and I've noticed an RT on/off top unscrewing itself a little sometimes after I had it apart. I would think you could use a pair of calipers, some shims (or not) and some blue loctite to reliably extend an on/off temporarily. You would use the shims like grinding 0.010 off of your pin, so three would put you around the equivalent of a .720 pin if you're using a stock .750 pin.

All else being equal, it's nice to have some different length pins to try out back and forth. You have to be careful to take apart and reassemble most anything over and over and keep it within a ULT shim tolerance of +/- 0.0025
