My first mag and some questions

Hi, all! I just picked up a new-to-me automag (A.I.R. valve s/n CF04974) and have been reading as much as I can about it on this forum. :) So far, I've come up with two things I can't find answers to with a search.

First, the grip frame is completely missing the safety, and I would like to replace it if I can. When I take one of the grip panels off, it looks like a cast aluminum frame with "W.G.P." and "M.R.P." cast into it. I've got another grip frame on order through my local dealer, but I was thinking it would be nice if I could put this one back together as a spare if possible with currently available parts?

Second, I was looking around at everyone's pictures, and didn't see one. . . Did AGD ever produce the minimag body (the one with the oval vent holes shrouding the barrel) in a right feed? I'm getting a stainless steel right feed body to replace the powerfeed one I've got now to gain a clear sight window across the top of the marker. I play in the woods a lot and thought it would be nice to have the extra protection for my barrel the minimag body offers, but I really don't want a powerfeed across the top.

    Thanks for the advice! :)

WGP means Worr Games Products, aka Autococker. Someone may have put an autococker frame on the mag? Pictures would help with the identification. You can usually buy a used stock trigger frame for around 15-20 bucks here. As for the other stuff, I'm not sure. Good luck.

Minimag bodies only came in right and left powerfeed as standard. A limited number, maybe 400?, were made with high-rise 'stovepipe' feednecks.

Thanks! I'll post a WTB in the classifieds for a grip frame, and I guess I'll just stick with the RF classic body, and maybe pick up a stainless steel barrel down the road - that should be able to hit the dirt a couple times without too much trouble.

Automags originally used WGP cast aluminum ("Pot metal") grip frames. They later moved on to the carbon fiber frames.

You can get a Hopper left powerfeed minimag and have Luke from http://lukescustoms.com/ mod the minimag body to Right feed.

            Welcome.

Thanks again for the welcome and the link to lukescustoms. I've already got a couple friendly forum members who have offered up a grip frame for me, and I'll keep luke's work in mind if I want to build up a RF minimag body down the road. Also good to know about his powdercoating service, as my rough plan right now is to get together all the parts I need to get comfortable using the marker and get my "setup" right, then send it all off to pretty it up - I'm thinking keep things simple and dust black the whole thing (I come from the woods, and to the woods I return. . . :)).

I'm getting to like it here. What I appreciate about the automag is beauty of design. Simple to build/maintain, bombproof, and all the speed you could want for (comparatively) not a lot of cash done 100% mechanically if that's how you roll (I appreciate electronically controlled markers for what they can do, but its just not my thing). It really shows that these things were designed by somebody who uses them, and in that knows what they need to do and how they need to perform.

I can see just building markers up for fun. . . this might end up expensive. . .

Okay, folks. Got my right feed body in (sweet), Stayhuge got me a sweet deal on a 22/3K HPA tank, and I've got a couple folks lining up CF grip frames for me. The RF body had three barrels that came along for the ride (all unknown make) - a black aluminum 16", a stainless 14" that has a group of ports just on the bottom of the barrel about half way up (doesn't make a lot of sense to me. . .), and an aluminum 8" barrel that is in pretty rough shape (but that I very much like on the marker! need to get me a new one about the same. . . maybe Palmer's brass?).

. . . which leads me to my hiccup. The braided line used to run from the vert adapter, over the powerfeed, and into the quick connect on the valve. Now, the line needs to run under the feed along the rail, and is too long! Anyone know how long a braided line I'll need to get this to work?

                Thanks again!
