short stainless twistlock barrels?

Hey, all! I've got one of the 8.5" Taso pro series stainless barrels, and although it works well, I was thinking I might like something without porting; basically the stock minimag barrel, but in stainless. . .

Does anyone know if such an animal exists? I know I could get a custom brass one done by Palmers (or maybe cut up the 12" ported one I've got now ), but I'm really liking the idea of a barrel I can face plant into the dirt and not really care about damaging.

Maybe take the front half off of a steel boomstick, it's glued in tho, so dunno how easy it'd be

I have stainless barrel that measures 9.5" overall and has minimal porting.
I'll post a pic in a few.




It has some kind of brass sleeve on the twist lock section.
There is 1 row porting holes in a spiral at the tip. They go about 1/2 way around.

What is the Minimag barrel made of? I have a barrel that I bought before I knew much about older barrels - still learning :P . store owner told me it was an old BOA, looks identical to a Minimag barrel (I thought it was after I noticed that most BOA barrels seemed to have porting) but it is stainless steel and from many of the remarks I've seen now I'm guessing that Minimag barrels aren't steel?

That pictured barrel has porting similar to my palmers brass. Are you sure yours just isn't nickel plated brass - I cant' see down the bore too easily in the pics?

The stock minimag barrel is aluminum. It is okay shooting, but it just seems like my stainless and brass ones are a bit better. Maybe if I sent a MM barrel out and had the bore mirror polished??? Still wouldn't save it from a trip to the dirt, though . . .
