    Detent

So this weekend my RPG retent gave out on me so I need to replace it.

Well the RPG retent's are 19.80 and a ULE detent is 7.75.

My question, is it worth the extra cash for the RPG retent or will the normal ULE detnet that RPG offers going to work just as well.

And why do some people add a 2nd detent?

for looks. one works fine. of course if one blows out you have a spare. RPG iirc makes rebuild kits so you wouldnt have to start from scratch. I only use rpg & killa detents because I like the ability to clean them every now and then.

How do I take it apart and clean it? maybe that will fix it, I was able to get it to pop back out and work some but after I pushed it a few times it would get stuck again.

I think you mean your AGD detent gave out?

ReTents come with a full rebuild of parts, and to date Ive never heard of anyone needing to rebuild one. But if it did, youd be able to completely rebuild it and keep on truckin'

Considering the ReTent comes with 1 full rebuild of internal parts, you are really getting the equivalent of 2 detents with the ReTent. IMO, worth it.

The reason why some get a 2nd detent besides looks is the same reason why some use Level 10 and ACE on an X-Mag(both are anti-chop systems). Its better to be safe than sorry. A single detent will suffice, but having 2 is more assuring you wont double feed.

No it is a RPG exile body that has a retent in it, I got it used so if there was a rebuild kit I don't have it.

I can get a pic up if needed.

Definitly post up a pic if you would. I would really be interested to see how it gave out.

            Thanks.

Not sure how well you can see this, don't have the best camera. But the ball is all the way in and you can see part of the spring on the left side wedged next to it. Iv played with it using a dental pick and can only get the ball to come up some but not get it dislodged from the spring

I ordered a New one anyhow. Like I said I got it used on my Emag so I'm sure its seen better days.

If you ordered a new one, you will get a full rebuild with it.

Then all you will need to do is separate that ReTent(the cap unscrews from the body) and replace the spring. To separate them may take a little manual dexterity.

If I had to guess, there is paint that is gumming up the spring. You can either clean the dried paint or just throw in the new/spare spring when you get the new ReTent.

Here is a pic of the parts disassembled:
