    need advice

I friend is having a problem with a Classic Mag. Here is the situation.

got the Level 10 setup working on your Mag today - however, there is a problem with the gun when you try to do quick back-to-back shots - I don't think it has anything to do with the Level 10 upgrade, and when you take nice evenly spaced shots everything is OK, but if you pull the trigger too fast the gun starts to hesitate and just farts some air down the barrel - it acts like it isn't getting enough air between trigger pulls - was it doing this before?

I have changed all of the o-rings, plus tried cleaning and swapping parts around, but no luck - I have never run into this particular problem before, and if I had the Mag book or video I would be looking at them now - since I don't have them I need you to review them for any possible solutions - keep in mind that it only acts up when the trigger is pulled too fast, and that the bolt is not sticking - it seems like it's the on-off valve - you can hear a very audible click after a shot, and once you hear that the next shot is just fine - but if you pull the trigger again before you hear that sound the next shot is no good - I tried a different on-off pin that you had but no change, plus have changed the on-off o-rings several times with no luck....

    Any help would be appreciated.

Yep, that's standard classic mag behavior. The term is "short stroking". My classic mag does it fairly easily. That'll be reduced to almost physically impossible with an XValve upgrade.

          not short stroking...

I know "short stroking" is not the issue. Been using mags since 94. Have other mags. This gun was just purchased and got a level 10 installed. I did ask him about the input HP pressure. What is the best input pressure required for a level 10. I used ti shoot Air America Raptors with 850 psi input. I know there has been a lot of advice about input pressures.

Sounds like your bolt is taking a while to reset. It may be the input pressure or the bolt spring.

I'd try a longer spring while you're messing around with it.

As always though, I reserve the right to be wrong.

lube the crap out of it , maybe go with a weaker spring , make sure your not getting bolt stick & go with 1 size larger carrier , also i'm sure you know , you have to turn the velocity up after the LX install
Was it doing this BEFORE the LX install ??

As chinstrap suggested, does your bolt spring stick out 1/4" past the tip of the bolt?

                Is your bumper swollen?

Still sounds like bolt stick. The click you hear is the sear/bolt resetting.

If the bolt sticks it will sometimes take a moment to reset. That means you no longer have as much time for the chamber to recharge before the next shot. This is the same effect as short stroking and produces the same results. I would try the next larger carrier size using the same white carrier oring. Make sure you don't use any shims while testing carrier sizes. You don't want to induce false leaking.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
