This is gonna sound a little stupid, but can anyone mill a ULE body to take a twistlock barrel for me? I have always liked the twistlock convenience and I have a Jacko barrel that I still want to be able to use. I just don't have the ability to try it. Would I need to try to find a slug, or is there enough meat on the ULE to have the room to be milled for a twistlock?
Twistlock ULE ? lol

Looking at a twistlock barrel and ULE I don't think it will work but you would have to take some exact measurements to be sure. The twistlock barrel would fit in the ULE body but the problem is the twistlock barrel is also the breach. You would have to bore the breach out of the ULE body. By boring out the breach your going to most likely cut out the body ring/bushing for the vlave or come very close to cutting it out. If its close it may work but it may also be to weak and eventually crack from the bolt pounding it thousands of times. -
You bring up an interesting point that I hadn't thought of yet. Makes me wonder if it can be done still. If I had the means of doing the milling myself I would give it a try just to find out.
If it was cut out close enough to the body ring/bushing/washer wouldn't the twistlock barrel still give the body wall in front of the ring some support with out malling it up ?Comment

I suppose it would give as much support as the twist lock pin could give.Originally posted by fishmishin

It might be easier to have your barrel autococker threaded...Comment

Another option is to cut the breach part off of the twistlock barrel. This would leave the breach in the body and should give the valve body bushing plenty of strength. The bad thing is you have a body that only accepts modified twistlock barrels that no other gun will take. You couldn't for example borrow your buddies barrel to try it out to see if you like it in your gun. Any barrel you buy would have to be modified to fit your body.Comment

Thats my thing, I have the twistlock barrel I want to use, but would still like to have the ULE body with the vertical feedneck. I have played with both for awhile, and i like my twistlock better then the long threads of a cocker thread. I can have my twistlock off and cleaned almost before I can even get a cocker threaded barrel off of the gun. Anyway it is just an idea, and I'm guessing that it's one that no one has ever cared to think about. Anyone have a beat up ULE body they want to let go off real cheap for a test piece, lol ?Last edited by fishmishin; 07-11-2009, 11:27 PM.Comment

After playing for awhile you will learn that twistlock is not that great.
. . . unless you are in to old school direct right feed, AGD doesn't make a ULE body that works like that (and warp bodies with 90-degree elbows just don't feed as well as a 45-degree stack and standard elbow), and the unicorn of a direct feed micromag is both a hard animal to find and possibly more valuable as a collectable than would maybe be worth pursuing as a field use gun. . .
I know, I know; I'm being difficult. . .Comment
