    Shootdown with RT Pro valve

I just recently tested an RT Pro I acquired from a bst forum . RT Pro valve w/ L7 bolt . Oiled & aired it up , noticed it took a couple seconds to come up to full pressure , and I could only dry-fire 5-7 shots before it lost pressure . Then nothing , I had to unscrew the tank and screw it back in to bring it back up to pressure . Another thing I noticed was when I let it sit pressurized for a couple minutes , air would begin to leak out the relief . The leak would stop after a couple pulls of the trigger .

My first thought was the pin in the ASA sticking in the valve of the tank . but I ruled that out . Second try was the velocity , half of a turn in and the pressure relief opened up , didn't think it was the velocity on account of how hard the mag was kicking with full pressure . I turned the velocity down and still had same problem . Today I took the fitting off the valve and found a very little piece of teflon tape stuck in the valve opening . I'm hoping that's it , but I have my doubts there .

I haven't aired it up since cleaning out the valve (mainly because I switched the fittings over to macroline fittings and I do not yet have the macroline) , but till I do air it up , anybody have any thoughts on the cause of the shootdown and slow build up of pressure ?

Next time it gets aired up , if the teflon tape wasn't the problem , I will be using a couple different tanks to make sure the tank itself doesn't have a bad valve .

Check your ASA or on/off. I have seen on/offs that allow the macro line fitting to screw to far down and limit the amount of air to the marker creating a build up. Also make sure your on/of is a free flow type with wide ports/opening...

Also, if the mag is releasing pressure out the back after sitting for a while, then you have a bad or dirty regulator seat oring.

The best you can do is give everything a good cleaning.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

I'll double check the fittings , but when I did the test , I screwed a remote line straight into the valve . It was actually the on/off handle of the ASA at the other end of the remote that I had to unscrew and screw back in , I should have been more clear on that in my first post . The ASA I'll be using is a Redz Grenade ASA , the fitting threads are over a half inch deep , so I doubt that will be a problem .

I didn't take apart the reg , just cleaned out the actual valve body . Thanks for pointing that out . I already have a valve seal kit and a lvl 10 on the way .

Next week the valve will get a rebuild .

What kind of fittings where on there before you switched? Also are you running a expansion chamber or regulator? Try and run your tank directly with out the remote line. Also make shure your tank is a high output type 850 and above...

No chamber or reg . I received the RT Pro as parts ; a valve , rail , and intelliframe . I already had the body . There was only a 90 degree fitting on the valve , no hose . I didn't have a steel line long enough to loop around from the Redz ASA to the valve , so I took out the 90 elbow and connected the remote line straight into the valve . The Redz ASA I have mounted can only be used with the drop it came with . The tank is an HP Crossfire 48/3000 . I do have a CP ASA I can try which I think I will be able to use the braided steel line with that . Within next couple days I should have the valve seal kit , LVL 10 and macroline . I'll clean out the entire valve , replace any orings that need to be replaced , and change bolt . Speaking of the bolt , I just remembered that if the frame screw is tightened down too hard , it can prevent the bolt from resetting , that could have also been part of the problem . It's been a couple years since I've owned a mag , but this one will be working soon enough .
