Preping for anno, need help with the Metal ring in Xmag body

Hi everyone. Hopefully this is an easy one. I noticed that there was a metal ring inside the Xmag body, and I can't seem to be able to get it out. Is there an easy way to do this? Need to remove it for anno. Thanks everyone!!!

There are 2 ways the bolt ring is held in (both screwed into the body). (1) There is a set screw on the bottom of your body that's holding the ring from moving. (2) It's needs to be removed by a tool which Tuna has...

I will take a look at it when I return home this Friday. Hopefully I can get it out. Is there any way to get it out after I take out the set screw with out the tool? Anything I can use that is close to the tool?

Also, on another note, the feedneck is in the breech pretty good. I actually broke my strap wrench trying to get it off. If I soak the breech in acetone, will that disolve the loctite that seems to be holding it in place? Not sure what else I can do at this point. Thanks again everyone!!!

Those rings are in there good, and loctited just to make sure. Send it to Tuna, he has a special made tool to removed it without FUBARing.

I have heard hot water will hot water will loosen the loctitie, and that thing must be really in there if you broke your star wrench on it.

If your very very careful you can use torch on low to heat the ring until you see smoke. To remove the ring you can use a bolt (2) nuts and (2) washer. Tighten the ring sandwiched between the 2 washers and the nuts on the outside of each washer. Turn the bolt head to twist off the ring.

Any chance it can be masked off an anodized? I've done that with all the micromags I've had done with no negative experiences to date... I know it's a different setup, maybe someone else knows more?

I'm not 100% sure as I've never sent my Xmag out for ano, but it might be an option.

Thanks everyone. I spoke with Tuna, and he is going to take care of the laundry list of things that I am having trouble with. I think it's just easier this way. Thanks again!!!
